Cut him off. It's your money and he has shown that he doesn't know how to handle it. Or...give him an allowance that he isn't allowed to go over.
Maybe that will teach him the value of money or at least motivate him to get a job so he can go back to buying toys for himself.

well if you want to scare him say you got a pay cut at your job and that he has to get a job. I've never really known a woman that would put up with a man that didn't have one personally I've always been the provider for my gfs i pay the bills etc and i have had women that used me for money what i always did was make them believe i had less cash than i did and always kept it from them ie bank statements. maybe after they have to start fighting to make ends meet they will learn the value of a dollar.

If you have a budget, I'd sit him down and make him look at it with you. Make it brief, make it painless just a "hey babe, I wanna show you how much WE can spend so we can buy some nice stuff." I think it's important he gets a job, if he has no motivation to get a job and expects you to take care of him, tell him it's over. You've got enough responsibilities as it is to have to take care of a grown person. Easy solutions 1) He needs a job. 2) Get a budget working or show him the one you have. I hope it works out for you. :-)

At this stage of the game, honey, there is nothing that you can do but to get out of the relationship. Your boyfriend has found himself a live one! Today, he's your boyfriend, just think if he were your husband. Start giving more thought to you own Golden Years. Leave this man to come up with the ends and ponder on how he will live his own Golden Years.

if i was you...i would start putting your money into an account that he has no access to...if you must, which you shouldn't, give him an allowance that "YOU" can afford. what i would do, is tell him to get a job so he'll have his own money to spend....sounds real close like he's taking advantage of you...plus if he has his "own" money and "bills", maybe he'll respect money more rather than taking it for granted...if he doesn't like it, then sorry...i'm sure he knows where the door is...don't let him bring you down...sounds like you got a really good head on your shoulders and very responsible...good luck.....

Been there and done that. Kick him to the curb girlfriend. The sooner you do, it the better. Believe me, you will eventually. I had one just like that. I wasted two years of my life with the bum. After kicking him out, a HUGE weight lifted from my shoulders (and my checking account).

Well this may sound rude... But you need to tell him that you have your reasons why you think about where your money goes... and if he wants and likes to go one spending gorges, then he should get up and get a dang job..because you are not going to supprot him forever....

I'd tell him just that. tell him about whatever situation your mother went through and tell him why you feel money cant be thrown around. I'm sure, for you, he will learn to accept that, If not, just discipline him and subtly yet forcefully reprimand him.
