When I die, this is what I want.
Straight off to be cremated.
Absolutely no religious stuff at all. None. Nothing.
Ashes in a pot and taken home.
At home, big party, with lots of good food and stiff drinks and singing and dancing and laughing. My ashes on a shelf.
Three of my favourite girls sing - It Was A Very Good Year (Sinatra)
Maybe a few more of my favourites ... TBA.
Thereafter, and I haven't decided yet, my ashes are scattered somewhere appropriate.
Sound about right?

It is true that one should concentrate more on living rather than what death will bring but I am 65 now and time is running out. At this time of life, we do need to think and plan ahead.
Should my family carry out my wishes at the right time, I am happier NOW knowing that.
They can enjoy the occasion, knowing that they are doing it the way that I wanted it. They will feel good.

and, yes, no praying, no crying, no sadness.

Re environmentally unsound - my burn-up will be nothing compared to the forest/bush fires or even just one international air flight ...

Funerals are for the living to remember the dead, so it sounds like you have quite a celebration in the works.

i don't get the person that said they want their mouth SEWN open.. that doesn't make any sense lol

anyway, hey, whatever you want dude, it's all good..

but it's true that funerals are for the living.. but i love that you'll be keeping the mood light and happy!! that's what people need at a time like that..

but you should focus more on the present than the future!!

Funerals are for the living, not the dead.

I hope your loved ones know you want them alive and happy.

Sounds like a good party.

your dead, so what's the point? for all you know these people will promise this, creamate you, and throw you away. what does it matter, you'll never know? sounds to me like you have wasted a LOT of time thinking about something pointless. something you have no control over.

I don't mean this AT ALL to be rude. but just thinking because you made sure you said absolutely NO religious stuff. just curious is all...

sounds great, but one consideration:
It was recently brought to my attention that cremation is bad environmentally, if that's a concern for you.

I have not yet researched whether or not that claim is true.

when I die, I want my family to cremate me and use my ashes as fertilizer like they did in How High!
