They jump from person to person almost like fleas on dogs. In school where i went if a person had it they weren't allowed to come back to school until they got rid of it because its so contagious. There was a girl who had it and my teacher found out and the nurse had to come check the whole class and a lot of kids actually got it and i got it too!! I tried lots of shampoos and whatnot to get rid of it, nothing seemed to work and it was extremely hard to get rid of and I even used a home remedy (don't remember what is was but, i remember having a whole jar a mayo on my head), eventually some type of shampoo worked (i don't remember which one) I was, i think about 7 years old. It was really gross but thank god thats over and done with!!

Lice can jump from person to person.

Rid, Kwell and similar preparations can be used to get rid of lice. These are available at your local drug store. It is essential to read and follow ALL the package directions strictly in order for the treatment to be completely effective.
