yup, perfectly normal. If your just not a hair person, and you always go to a salon, then anything I say here will be of no use to ya..... but if you get the notion to purchase a curling iron, and read the booklet which comes with it, you'll see how easy it really is. First of all, don't watch yourself in a mirror, cuz that'll probably just be confusing for ya. If ya do get a curling iron, try just taking tiny baby steps with using it. Just try picking up a chunck of your hair and winding it on the curling iron, now use a little hair spray on that section....wait.......and repeat.......after you've done one side in this manner, repeat for the other side.....then tip your head upside down, give it a shake....add more hair spray,,,,,,,flip your head up...... and VOOLAW...... instant curls, with volume, and fullness !!
CUTE CUTE......... and Good Luck.......

Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. It's no big deal you can't style your own hair easily - just practice.
You can make a ponytail sophisticated by wearing it low, wrapping a section of your hair around the elastic and securing it with a pin. You can also use a ribbon for a touch of whimsy.
Hair bands are in this season. Plain thin ones are very classic. Or you can use a scarf for a retro '60s look.
You can braid your hair & wear the braid down. Or you can loosely braid your hair & create a bun by coiling it and securing it w/ bobby pins.
You can braid your hair after shampooing and let it dry. Take out the braids and you'll have a loose wave/crimp that's perfect for a beachy, summer look.
Allure & InStyle are really good magazines for hair style ideas. Treat yourself to an iced tea and thumb through them @ your local bookstore for ideas.
The April issue of Allure has a feature about 3 updos w/ instructions and diagrams.
Ask your friends who have nice hair for recommendations and find yourself a stylist you like. A great hair stylist can make a world of difference. He/she can explain what will work for your hair texture and face shape and teach you about different styles.
You can start slowly by getting a trim to even up the edges and to add definition. As you develop a rapport, you can work towards new looks, etc.

You are normal hun... I too grew up in a similar fashion, and I learned how to do my hair from paying attention to magazines and TV. I would recommend buying a big curling iron and placing loose spiral curls throughout your hair. Just run the curling iron down your hair, stopping at the ends and then start twisting up. This is a kool style cuz the curls don't have to be perfect to look fabulous. Another good style is to utilize what you already know, is to put your hair up (in kind of a high pony tail) and add spiral curls to the back. This looks classy and cute. Ne-ways good luck and I'm sure ne-thing you come up with will be beautiful :-)

Well, i think its about time you learn some quick easy hairstyles! here are some cute styles for you to do at home by yourself =]
these are young fresh looks for the summer, you can add or take away, change and modifye each to fit your age group
I think the best hairstyle is half back with a cute clip, i like it because it looks good on a lot of people, and it looks really femiminin too =]
its so simple, just buy an inexpensive clip that u like, my favorite is small and has lots of little puka shells on it.Brush back the top part of your hair, you can either brush all the top hair (as in all the way down to the tops of your ears) or a little less (so the hair you leave down begins further up) you can try out how much u want to clip back on your own, whether or not you want to keep your part or not, and whether it looks best with or ithout bangs. Basically, you just clip that back and voila. Really cute.
i also LOVE 2 low braids on either side, hanging over the shoulder, thats totally easy to do too. If you dont know how to braid go here- http://www.wikihow.com/Braid-Hair
this look is young and fun, try not to pull them TOO tight or you'll risk a farmgirl look.
it would most likely be easier though, to have a friend show you so you can get some hands-on practice. then tie with little black elastics, since big fabric-ish ones look sort of silly.this look is young and fun, try not to pull them TOO tight or you'll risk a farmgirl look.
lastly i would say straight down is always really pretty, invest in a CERAMIC straightener (conair makes a good one) and after you blow dry with your head upside down, follow by straightening your hair until it lies smooth and flat. Spritz with a leave in conditioner as well to stop dryness and frizz. This looks good on the mojority of people, and with long hair like yours, it would most likely look really silky and pretty =]
hope those helped you out a bit!

I was kind of the same, as the ponytail was all I could do. I think the best thing you could do is practice. Keep practicing doing simple hairdos and hopefully you can get the hang of it. Only recently, i taught myself how to braid my hair nicely after so many attempts, so it really does take time to get used to it.
If you're really struggling to fix you hair in different styles, try using just headbands or scarves, which can make you hair look totally different. Even a simple headband on a ponytail goes a long way

Do your hair can be a pain in the butt. I feel ya. What I normally do is just sit down in front of the mirror and play with my hair. Just play around with it you will figure out how to do things with it after awhile of playing around with. Or you could get a few of your friends over and hang out and have them help show you new ways to do your hair. Make it fun. I also buy hair style books and try to do some of the ideas that are in there. Make it fun. It will get easier after you have pissed with it for a while.

you can go to any salon and ask them to give you a hair cut that will be easy to style.
If your hair is straight then you can just curl the ends of your hair with a curling iron.
If your hair is wavy then you can use a straightener. Its really easy, but make sure your hair is completely dry before you use it, or it will burn your hair.
If you have curly hair then put gel/moose in it, and then hair spray.
*A neat trick to putting your hair half up and half down is to get both of your index fingers and place them at your temples and slide your fingers straight across the back of your head until both your fingers meet. Split the hair apart and tie the top half of your hair with a hair tie.
Hope this helps!!!

Every girl goes through this - even if they had Mom's, sisters, and dolls. It's normal. Do what the other girl said, play with it. Play with curlers, curling irons, straightening flat-irons, gel, all sorts of stuff. Eventually it does become easier. Make sure you do deep conditioning once a week though so that all the playing around with it doesn't damage it.
One nice thing about playing around with it with no place to be is that you can just wash it out if you don't like how it's turned out.

Try different techniques in blow drying...with a brush for definite style (places the hair where you want it as it controls how it dries) , freestyle (just flip your head over and run your fingers through it as it dries), experience with volumunizing or frizz serums if you need help in those areas. It all starts with the right haircut for your face though. One that is easy for you to work with, looks good, and you are happy with. With long hair, highlights and layers are key to keep it light and breezy and you will have so much fun with it, you will never want to put it in a ponytail again. Layers are key for my hair, which is the same length as yours. I have the entire style layered and razor cut to frame my face and bangs. I just put a bit of volumnizing mousse in, pomeade, flip my head upside down and blow dry. Because of the cut, it flips out and separates to give texture and style. If I want to be girly, I just take a 1 inch curling iron to small sections length wise to give a spiral curl. It is key to use hair spray to it before hand to help it hold the curl all day. I let the curls cool down before I run my fingers through and spray to finish. It is also cute in a pony tail if I am in a hurry. So it is very flexible to do what you need. Also of note, don't wash your hair every day! It is much easier to work with in between washings if you are curling it with the natural oils built in. Also, learn where your natural part is and note any cowlicks (hair that does what it wants no matter what you do to it is how I'd describe it) and learn to work with them to achieve your style.

Sit in front of the mirror with a style book, and follow the procedures carefully or try and create your own style. Just play around with your hair. You'll eventually get the hang of it.
