Cold Causes the muscles to constrict (tighten) trying to conserve the heat in your body. That's what causes you to be so stiff and painful in the morning.

Take a hot bath every night before bed and see if this helps lessen the pain in the morning. Also you could soak your feet in hot water in the mornings to relieve the pain.
