i own a 1996 nissan altima it has a 2.4L inline twin cam 4 cylinder?

i want to turn it into a tuner but dont know where to get started i have put an after market exhuast and a cold air intake on it but what else can i do to it that want empty my pockets and what if i put a stage 2 turbo on it what would i have to do for that to perform best all answers will be appreciated and so will all advice on this motor

your best bet would be a sr20det bb or gtir the ka24 boosted will cost about the same and would have much less potential .. a simple turbo kit will add maybe 75 hp to the wheels in the sr20det it produces 205-225 in stock form and can be tuned to produce 300 hp .. http://www.jgycustoms.com/motors.htm ....check out this web site this is the way two go !!

Ka-Boom! The KA-24 engine has 3" bore and 3.5" Stroke. good for torque at lower engine speed. Basically a truck motor. Your money would be best spent on a new 350Z. Pride of ownership driving a safer car one with rear wheel drive. Even lowered with spoilers and wings 1996 Altima is a four door econo box. Making power out of a old motor is not reccomended.

Get the ecu sorted out especially after having the exhaust and intake upgraded, you'll need to upgrade the ecu because you'll have more oxygen mixing with the fuel and its the ecu that regulates the fuel/air mix. Don't go mad on power upgrades without checking the brakes and suspension, I did it before spent loads on the engine of a 92 civic but ignored the brakes eventually the brake disc shattered after some heavier breaking before a turn and the rest, as they say, is history!
