I've always been the "good girl" type - i'll be a ***** if you even TRY to pull any **** on me - i have alot of dignity, respect, i'm understanding, and i'm definitely a guy's girl - so no drama right here! :) Most importantly, i'm a loyal person - ANY kind of relationship.

ANYHOO, looking back, i was thinking about my first boyfriend...my first real "relationship"...i always thought he cared and respected me but thinking about it...he went out with a girl ONE MONTH after he broke up with me...and he broke up with me for her.

I'm realizing this now because there's a guy out there that really adores me - we've been through something similar like this - he's my best friend and decided that we didn't wanna ruin our special thing so just wait it out. It's been about more than 2months and he hasn't gone "crazy" for girls...he's been "out there" but nothing serious

Do you think my first boyfriend really respected me like i thought he did? or was he just being a typical guy?

First off never right to generlize people, you know the whole acting like a typical guy thing, it well just make it harder for you to understand the individual. Chances are he was acting like most people, lost and unsure what the heck to do. Weather he respected you or not shouldn't be an issue with you, his thoughts shouldn't be a concern. What you need to realize espacially with this new guy in your life. That at the center of every deep, meaningful, fullfilling relationship, exsistence a friendship. I have no clue were western culture got the idea that were suppose to love a stranger that we have sex with... which might be why your not sure of that first relationship, because had you been good friends, you'd know the answer.... but realize that with this new guy, wouldn't it be better to die with a friend at your side, then live with a stranger for the rest of your life? Don't let society blind you to this, don't find someone who just specks of love and romance, and think they can control the world for you ( that romantic stuff died with chivary), find someone who well at the very least, enjoy the world your in with you, and try to do what they can to help you cope with this lovly problem we inhertied from our parents.... good luck... just remember one of the greatest destroyors of relationships is having to high expectations of it and yourself, you guys get past that and the friendship with do just fine, and the relationship well grow great!
