Right. Aim right behind the front shoulder. But, it also depends on how the animal is facing. If it is stand completely broadside, then shot it right behind the front shoulder. On deer, its about 6 inches above the belly and just behind the shoulder, which will hit the heart, lungs and/or liver. Obviously, the smaller/larger the animal, the "sweet spot" gets smaller or larger, but its still in the same area, just proportioned to the animal.

The best place you want to shoot any deer with any gun is the vitals, which is right behind the shoulder, adn i would try to hit the pig in the head if you are going for meat, because not too many animals move too much with a hole in their head, but if you dont have the shot, or plan on on mounting it, then right behind the shoulder is where the heart and lungs are.

Yes that is the correct place to shoot both animals if thay are standing broadside or quartering away from you . Dont try head shots the brain is a very small target. If facing you shoot right between its front legs about 1/2 way up its body. If quartering towards you shoot it right in the shoulder

The heart/lung shot is the most recommended shot for nearly all hunting conditions on the majority of game animals. It is a large target area, relative to the animal, that quickly and humanely kills the animal. This should be you primary concern once you have decided to take the shot. Over the last 30 years I have used this shot to take everything from prairie rats to elephants. Just be sure you do as Robert Ruark said "use enough gun"

Yes open country close to moderate range.( lever action bullets tend to be flat nosed so they wont explode in the tube mag.( they have poor range acuracy) soft rubber tips can help this but I have seen the noses disinagrate in the air and wildly throw the shot off corse.
They are a slower traveling bullet than most other 30 cal bulet types. This lends them to diving off at range.
oh and acording to statistics High vellocity bullets make better " brush guns".
How ever your question does ask slightlly different answers. Than wich your additionl information eludes to the question desired.
Yes, right behind the shoulder joint is the aproxamate Vitals shot on most game animals.
There are web sites/ magazines that dippict various game animals and their vitals area(s). and from different positions as this target profile changes from diferent angles( whether the game animal is ,faceing you,1/4 away, elevated, etc.)
