Tooth sensitivity can mean a few different things.
The tooth can have a cavity. If this is the case, they will drill the tooth to make the cavity an even size, and put in a silver filling to fill the hole.
Some people just have naturally sensitive teeth. My brother has sensitive teeth, altough perfectly healthy. He used a special toothpaste suggested by the dentist to make them less sensitive.
I would suggest telling the dentist about it. He will explain everything to you and tell you what is the matter.

They are gonna take x-rays first. The dentist will do a full exam. Then he'll tell you how many cavitiess and what needs to be done. They don't just pull your teeth and send you home.About your tooth hurting. If it's sensitive to cold only,it's a cavitie. They gonna clean the rotten part of your tooth, put a liner there and filling. If it's sensitive to cold and hot, that needs a little bit more work which is root canal.Taking the nerve out,not the tooth.Ask as many questions as you need to your dentist.A good dentist doesn't mind to explain.Good luck.

omg my tooth hurts like crazy right now too......and i mean literally........i think it might possibly be another root canal for me 'cause i already had one in the past........i'm trying to sleep but i can't and i already took some ibuprofen 200 mg......i might have to call in work tomorrow.....well, don't worry too much about going to the dentist no matter how scary it seems because it's better to solve the root of the problem of your pain than let it be in pain forever because it will get worse......and plus fortunately today's dentists have novocaine and whatever stuff they have to numb your tooth so you won't feel the pain when they work on it........i think sometimes they put you to sleep but that never happened to me all they do is numb me and i don't feel anything even when they're sticking needles and drills on one of my tooth........if your tooth is hurting when you drink cold water then i think it's a sign that it might be a cavity or your teeth is just sensitive to cold temp..........i don't think they would pull your tooth out........but they might......i don't know for sure........never happened to me........well, hope this helped a little.......and my tooth hurt so bad i wanna cry........gotta go to the dentist again........good luck with you........and your teeth.....

Sounds like a significant contamination. Could be teeth or ear. See a document or dentist or each till it is constant. People can die from critical teeth infections. The contamination is going to the mind and does tremendous harm. See anybody instantly.

yes it will have to be pulled and unfortunatly it cant be deadened..you will have to endure the pain....the doctor will first give you a shot for infections and the needle is big around as a penny and hurts worse than being dropped out of a 13 story building and landing on your head in the middle of the street.... then he will tell you it aint gonna hurt but it will be scared,,cause you are in for the pain you have never imagined.its worser than being hit by a 18 wheller truck......worse than being shot out of a cannon pointed strait at the ground,,,,it will hurt worser than your foot being hit in the big toe with a sludge hammer...it will hurt you worser than a big foot chewing you up whole and eating your body,,,it will hurt worse than going over niagra falls in a barrell...it will hurt worser than a bear tearing your arm off and beating you to death with it...it hurts worse than giving birth....it hurts worser than a elephant sitting on your head,,,it will hurt worser than a tiger eating you alive,,,its worserer than being buried alive and never being dug up. it hurts worser than taking a pair of pliers and pulling your tongue out by the roots...it will hurt worser than an ingrown toenail...it will hurt worser than brain freeze when you eat something very cold....it will hurt worser than a big fat black lady sitting on your broke legg and jumping up and down continuall for 18 days nonstop...it will hurt worse than a knife splitting your head in two....its gonna hurt so run away from home we really dont needa dentist....teeth are like rocks they dont rot,,,they never will..your parents just tell you this so you can go thru pain....they love it.....

UNTIL THE DENTIST DOES A THOROUGH EXAM AND TAKES APPROPRIATE X-RAYS YOU REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT WILL BE FOUND.
