Ascendency!

Decline leads to degradation of social, ethical, and government institutions and destroys prior notions of security and liberty.

I prefer the stability of an ascending slope of progress, then the inevitable decline...

This is especially true of the Ancient World. I would rather work in the Library of Alexandria and study classical knowledge (it was around 700+ years!), than live in the time when it was successively destroyed by religious nuts.

Early rise of civilization are normally from peaceful to bloody, the middle is quite in the plateau and little peaceful then as it as it ascends fast, it becomes decadent till it reaches it's decline then goes back to the same cycle. I like the middle as in the days between world war 1 and world war 2.

depends on the civilization i guess. If you're a decent person, probably the end of the ascendence, but if you're a hedonist, the decline is where the debauchery is.

depends on yor profession. If you are something like an architect, engineer and stuffs like that, probably at the ascendency, cuz there are more opportunities to build. But if your something like a political exile, definitely at the decline.

That would depend on what civilization it was and where I was in the society. If I was a rich or powerful person, I probably want to be in the asecendency. Things would only become better then.

in its ascendency because usually during the decline of a civilization, war and corruption are the norm.
