Any way, the ice cream was great but ice cold. My tongue was burned and now I can't talk right. It hurts poor granny. Any suggestions besides stay away from the stuff?

That must have been some great ice cream!

Luckily, the cells in the mouth are very resilient and they will heal on their own in 3 days.

Don't eat any hot spicy foods.

Sorry, not much you can do besides let it heal. Steer clear from ultra cold or ultra hot foods (it will only irritate the tongue more). Also limit intake of spicy, salty, and sour foods.
I feel your pain - that's happened to me before. I just had to wait it out. (and my food didn't taste the same. that was the worst part!).
Good luck!
