What is the best Japanese, or European car within the price range of $4000-5000? I don't wanna go for an American car because you don't get as much mileage out of it as you get out of Japanese cars. Plus, i don't wanna be visiting auto repairs all the time by getting an american car. Any suggestion?? Thanks

Well you can cross European cars off your list since they are not reliable and cost arm & leg to fix and maintain.

For $5000, you can buy....

1992 Lexus SC400
1995 Lexus ES300
1992 Lexus LS400
1995 Acura Integra
1993 Acura Legend
1998 Toyota Celica

By the time the cars get down to the $4000-$5000 price range there's not much difference. The domestic cars generally lose value quicker, so get to that range faster, but can still be decent cars. An equivalent Japanese or European car will have much higher mileage or be older and will likely be in as bad or worse condition.

In that price range it's going to be mostly about finding that one rare gem for a good price.

You don't want to go to a repair shop a lot so you want a *** or European piece of junk. Good luck with that. They break down even more than American cars and cost quite a bit more to fix than American cars. The only reason they get better gas mileage is because there so cheaply built they do not weight anything. Enjoy your junk and save up your money because you're going to need it.
