I get panic attacks, had to leave my last job because of them.
Best thing I have been suggested is either go for a long walk, take some exercise or listen to some calming music and breath deeply.
My doc still working on what are setting mine off but I am on medication at the moment as well

My boyfirend suffered from panic attack a while ago. He isn't the type to go the the doctors but he did want to know what was wrong. He used the Internet to find out what a panic attack was and what was happening in his lifestyle at the time that may have been triggered. From that he understood why he had them, then they stopped.

Yes there are many people out there who suffer from panic attack. I, too, suffer from panic attacks and I would suggest you to try and take control on these attacks. I nkow it isnt easy but you should try.
You could tell yourself that its only a panic attack and you are familiar with it. Try an relax by breathing calmly. Panick attack will never let you be at rest. You just have to learn to relax and talk to your family and friends about it. Try and enjoy as much as you can so that you can forget about the disorder.

Yes, I have had anxiety issues for many years. About 15 years ago, a doctor prescribed a medication called Buspar. It helped, but I couldn't afford to stay on it. I currently take alprazolam on an as-needed basis, and it really helps.
The first thing I would recommend, though, is to remember that it's only a panic attack and you WILL survive it. Take a few nice, deep breaths, relax your stomach and chest muscles, and continue relaxing more muscles until you feel better.
You might want to consider biofeedback if the symptoms are severe, you don't want to go on meds, and you are having a hard time controlling frequent attacks.
Best of luck to you!

I have had anxiety and panic attacks for years, I don't panic as much as I used too but they are awful. do some breathing if you are able bring in air with your mouth barely open to the count of 4 then hold it for 2 then blow it out it gets new oxygen to your brain and you can do this anytime. The breathing in & out of the bag doesn't work as well. I hope you have medications Xanax works well and you need an Anti depressant

My husband suffered from bad panic attacks about 2 years ago. He too had to quit his job. He felt like there was someone sitting on his chest, had trouble breathing, and his heart would race. The doctor prescribed him Lexapro..he started at 10mg. but now takes 20mg. It has changed his life. He hasn't had a panic attack for over a year now.

i went through hell with panic attacks when i was 21,so i know how your feeling,i did'nt know at the time what a panic attack was and kept thinking the doctors were just telling me this to fob me off.i was on diazepam at one stage because they were so bad,i've been on beta-blockers aswell but the best thing for me was anti-depressants.after maybe 3 weeks on them my attacks calmed down and kept getting better after about 6 weeks i never experienced a severe panic attack again.mild ones i can cope with.

Yes these are very frightening. Have you seen people breathing thru paper bags ? You might think no way i`m doing that. But it actually works. Try it when you feel one coming on. People don`t stare as much as you think they will - they know what`s happening.
