No, unless you are already in, otherwise they will not let you in. If you are colorblind that is the same, no. absolutely no. Good luck, get the surgery and then go forth and try that way.

I'm not sure about the Air Force, but the Navy and Marine Corps both allow candidates to have PRK and be pilots. The downside though, is that competition for the pilot slots has increased because now everyone is a potential pilot-- --fewer people are disqualified because of bad vision. Which means that in order to be selected as a pilot trainee you have to be better, smarter, etc. than before because there is so much competition--guys who used to go into nuclear engineering are going to be pilots now. Which means that unless you learn to read and write better---you won't make the cut. Traditionally, the top students in their class in flight school get to choose their aircraft assignment. But in the end, Uncle Sam will make the final decision.

No, the AF will not send you to have PRK or Lasik done to qualify you for pilot training.

PRK is waveriable if it has been atleast one year since you had the procedure.

If you have already had Lasik done, it is a none waveriable condition

As to your other question.

After Initial Flight Screening (IFS)

You are sent to

Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT)

Flying (T-6, T-37, T-34) and later (T-38, T-1, C-12, T-44, UH-1)

At the end of Phase 3 UPT, all candiates are ranked according to merit. Based on flying, military and academic's.

The higher ranked candiates get to choose first, so those near the bottom will end up flying cargo airplanes or helicopters.

BAD EYES DON'T FLY .

IF YOU HAVE AN EYE PROBLEM WORK ON IT NOW..
THE MILITARY DOES NOT SELECT PEOPLE WITH BAD EYESIGHT.

AND NO ONE PICKS WHAT THEY WILL FLY----UNCLE SAM DOES THAT....
