Destiny is an entirely different thing than faith. It's that things happen to create a certain end, but there's nothing you or anyone else can do about it. A lot of it is superstition.
I believe in having faith. Believing for the best. My mom always tells me to "Pray like it's all up to God, and work like it's all up to you, and things will work out."

Are you referring to fate and destiny?
Fate is something you had or in when you were born until you grew up. It is brought by your environment and it is not your choice. As you grow up and learn from your early life, you make choice if you ever wanted to stay in that situation or strive to make some changes in your life. You start to choose the road by which you want take your journey through it. If you fail, you do not blame it on anyone not even God. Maybe it is caused by a wrong judgement on the choice you made so it's either you stand up and try again or make a detour to take another route. In that way you create your own destiny. Do not believe the Divine Destiny because even God Himself is angry with the Diviners. Look in Deuteronomy nd you will see how He is appalled by it.
