I own a Compaq V3000 computer that is Vista capable. I'm thinking of geeting the express upgrade for Vista. Does Vista work better, worst, of the same of XP? My computer has a "designed for Windows Xp" sticker on it, but on the bottom of it it says "Vista Capable"

well there is a big difference between vista capable and vista ready. if it was vista ready than you can just install vista and bam. but thats where they get you as capable only means that it can run it. but in order to make it capable you would have to expand your memory etc.etc.etc. if it was vista ready then you could just install vista and go. i have windows vista and i love it but only beacause i know how to work around the bugs. it is better to stick with xp for a while until viosta is more stable.

Personally,

Cons:

Compatability with Vista. Vista is still relatively new, so there are some compatability errors with some software (especially drivers) and in some cases hardware (such as my DVD drive). So for some applications you will need to download Vista compatabile drivers and patches.

I had some problems with Vista so I went back to using XP (I have Professional Edition) for some time. I am going to wait about 6 months to about a year, so that there are more Vista compatible drivers, etc. out there to use (hopefully there will be less faults).

Besides from that I think that Vista is GREAT! (Especially some of its effects, like the 'shuffling' of the Windows. The games are pretty good as well, especially InkBall--very addictive).

Have a look at this site below for some pros and cons with Vista

Hope this helps! (I suggest for you to purchase a 32-bit version of Vista)

Vista ad campaign says "Wow"! I think it should be Wow what is the big deal. To me the only difference is that the program asks "are you sure?" when you run programs. I am having a lot of problems trying to get my peripherals such as scanner and external hard drives to work. A lot of my programs that I bought for XP on the net like video Converters and anti virus are useless now. I wish I had stuck with XP. Maybe in a year the programs may be more compatible.

I recently got a new computer, I had been using Windows 2000 Pro. I see my browsing and working with Microsoft Works much better. Many new and great things are included with Vista. Your computer is Vista ready, so... do it and be amazed. You won't regret it.

Vista is pretty cool if you get it pre-loaded with a new PC. There are minimal problems,, however, if you get the upgrade you will need to do a lot of fixes. If you're happy with XP don't upgrade.
