To find out if she has polyps, she will need a colonoscopy. What that is, is a small tube with a camera is passed through the colon. You can see everything on a computer screen. The tube has a little grabber on it, so if they see a polyp, they remove it while they are in there, then they send it to pathology to test it for cancer. I left you a link to answer some of your questions. http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/colonpolyps_ez/

It does not imply it is colon melanoma. The polyps will also be benign. Doctors determined a HUGE polyps in my father after a colonoscopy. It wasn't detrimental and it was once eliminated. Also, it would take months to get the outcome again provided that they need to ship it to a some distance away lab to experiment the pattern. Otherwise, a average time is a couple of weeks. My dad additionally had bladder melanoma in a sophisticated level and he is been transparent of it for over a 12 months now. So even though it's, there is desire.

In the United States, more than 50,000 people die of colorectal cancer every year. Yet advanced cancers of the colon and rectum are highly preventable. That's because most of these cancers begin as an adenomatous polyp — a small clump of cells that forms on your colon lining. Although the great majority of colon polyps are harmless, some may turn cancerous over time.

I had a coloscope about 3 weeks ago.
The dr said he removed 4, 3 were minor, but one was pre-cancer.
Since he got it early, no problem. I felt no pain, and except for being a little tired after the procedure, I felt fine.

Your friend might do well to have a colonoscopy. They do not hurt.
