Perhaps stories of his youth would be interesting, but not necessary for salvation.
Cheers :-)

Well Luke does have a child hood story in there. But that's about it.
Apparently the writers of the gospel didn't think his childhood wasn't that important. It is also very likely that his childhood wasn't known to them. None of them knew Jesus personally, and none of the apostles actualy knew Jesus until he was 30.
There were a couple of gnostic writings that cover Jesus' life. They are pretty far out there - and paint a picture of a young Jesus as vendictive and having uncontrolable power. The church, when assembling the bible chose to leave these stories out as they felt they didn't actually protray the real Jesus. And they didn't match what the rest presented Jesus as. Most likely these were written at the end of the second century - long after Jesus.
My guess would be that no one really knew Jesus' childhood, or if they did thought it unremarkable. Remember that Jesus' ministry doesn't realy start until he is 30 years old. The only reason his birth is thrown in there is because the authors considered it important. They felt that it fulfilled certain prophecies in the Old Testament and therefore valuable.

Luke 2:39-55 Tells the last about the child hood of Jesus but the main part for here that you ask about is this one.
Luke 2:51-52 (NLT)
51 Then he returned to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them; and his mother stored all these things in her heart. 52 So Jesus grew both in height and in wisdom, and he was loved by God and by all who knew him.
Jesus went on from the age of 12 until Ministry started being an obedient son, playing, going to school, working as a Carpenter. What ever He did during that time is not important to us or we would have a record of it.

I think it is because Jesus' adult life is what adds to the theme of the Bible. The basic storyline here is how God's Kingdom with Jesus Christ as it's heavenly king will restore God's reputation and purpose for mankind and the earth. Anything which doesn't support that basic plot has been eliminated. Everything else is there because God feels it is going to help us understand.

History skips to what the popularity wants. Thankfully there is the bible that shows that Jesus was a megolomaniacal murderer. Read Luke 19:27-28 and see how Jesus asks his followers to slay those that do not follow him!

There were many gaps, and especially since the original catholic church condemned all writings, some of the history is destroyed. I know there is a book that claims to have part of his childhood years and storys of when he was a child.

that was something I ask God, when I seeked him a couple of yrs ago, but forgot about it till now.... I seek his face about allot of stuff. Why don't u sit in prayer and ask him for answers. I will pray for wisdom on this cuss its something I want to know to. But my own understanding is Rabbis r not aloud to preach till age 30. Plus look at the strength the son of God had, if he did preach the way, he would of been killed at a young age( for we know his purpose) Maybe he wanted a life. He was a Carpenter. He probably built houses for the poor till he was of age to preach the Gospel.

Don't you have better things to think about ?? Life is short, the world is getting smaller and the knowladge to gain is larger - better think of some worth while things !
(OK to reduce your thinking time - he was in India learning Brahmanism during that time since the king was killing the young)

some of the Gnostic gospels talk about his childhood but the church leaders who compiled the new testament did not think they were relevant so they did not include them in the bible.

The Bible says that if everything was written down, there wouldn't be enough books to hold it all.
Ain't got that much time to read all of that down here!
Maybe Later!
