Why did my local H&R Block tax preparer not give me an itemized and complete bill for all of her tax preparation service? I paid her $328 for one hour of work-----that is almost $5.50 per minute. I think it was too much. Everything was neatly collated by schedules.

Why didn't she use the estimated tax forms furnished by the IRS and the SC Revenue Dept ?

Frankly, I feel that I was ripped off and see no reason to go back to H&R Block next year.

Why not do your own taxes.. Go to http://turbotax.intuit.com/ and do them yourself there... I have been doing mine and my mother's for the last 2 years with no problem.. very simple, itemized and helpful!

If you have to use Estimated Tax Forms and mentioned the use of schedules, you are probably an Independent Contractor or have a side business(but this is just a guess). If that was the case then you probably had more than a basic return.

I would just go back to them and ask them for the itemized statement. If you don't agree with any of the fees have them justify it.

Also, FYI it is not a good idea to post any personal information in public.

You should have gotten an itemized bill. If not, go back and ask for one.

Her software probably created estimated tax forms for next year based on your return, so she'd have given you those to use rather than the ones you get from the IRS.

Sounds like a lot of money to spend unless your return is extremely complicated.

Because she did not want to show you what she was charging you for. They charge by the form!!!!

Next year try the free tax service provide by AARP. Phone number 1 888 227 7669. Note free. And lots of explanation.

Go back and ask for the invoice, if it was not included in your packet. If there were charges that were not part of the tax preparation, ask to have an adjustment.
