The media and defenders of Islam often represents their religion as peaceful, but with a small minority of extremist terrorists. I'd certainly like to see a significant majority of mainstream Islam teachers strongly condemn violence.
Some (many?) Moslem nations have swords in their flags, indicating conversion by the sword. Where are their religious leaders forcefully declaring that the 9-11 terrorists and school bombers are in hell? The muted, timid, and relative lack of that makes me infer that it is a religion inclined to violence.
Violent Christians are going against the teachings of their founder (although Christians are ok with self defense and the goverment resisting enemies).
Jesus, Paul, James, and Peter (among others) specifically taught that our good behavior should influence people to consider looking into what Christians believe. We are instructed to be good ambassadors for Jesus, which is a huge challenge.

No Islam is not a religion of violence and destruction.Islam is a peaceful religion and muslims always pray for prosperity
of themselves and other..Prosperity can not be developed without peace. In every religion not only Islam there is always a very few of them are extremists or terorists or violenists or destructors. In general most of a religion followers are hoping live in togetherness full of tolerance without disturb each other. In surah 109 Al Kaafiruun ,Allah the only one God has instructed all muslims to let other religion followers for worshipping their God but muslims should not be the worshipper of their God.Our religion is ours and your religion is yours..
God instructed muslims do not make close friend with jews and christians because their religions are polytheism and their behaviours can not be trusted fully..But this instruction can not be interpreted as making them as our enemies. We can make friend with them but do not so close we should maintain a certain limitation or distanceWe are not in the same boat or faith...We can not appoint them as our witness if there are other muslims. We can appoint them as our assistant or advisor if there is another muslim in the same competency..
Yes 1.2 billion muslims scatter in this world in fact majority of us can live peacefully in togetherness with jews, christians, bud
dhas,hindus and other religion followers
You must remind also that the muslim terrorists is made by the fact of oppression or insulting and slandering of other religion followers. They become terrorists as a reaction of their unfair treatment to muslims. It is only a form of solidari
ty,because muslims around the world are brothers and sisters..Muslims are deffensive and not offensive..We do not seek an enemy but we should make friend with other and love each other whatever their religion is.We do not hate other religion followers because they are also our God's creations. But we muslims do not want to be insulted, cheated
slandered, oppresed, etc and other bad treatments. We love freedom and peace but we more love if it can be achieved by mutual honourable and respectable friendship without disturbing other..We muslims are eager to live happily and securely here in this world and in the live after death.May God bless us all and shoiw us the right path.Amien 3 X

There are fanatics in every religion. Terrorists are fanatics. There are christians blowing up abortion clinics, killing and raping becaue "god told them to". The bible and the quaran have about and equal amounts of violent and screwed up passages. It is just convienient for some people to say all muslims are terrorists. Helps some people sleep better at night I guess.

When you have a bunch of extremists - you're going to get a bunch of people taking down planes, blowing themselves up and killing hundreds upon thousands of innocent beings.
The Muslim community is one of the most hated because in this day and age they're pushing their beliefs onto others who are completely satisfied with their religion.
Just because a handful of the total Muslim population uses extreme acts of violence, it doesn't mean that I trust the rest or their intentions. Take a look at it now - look at Europe.. The Muslims are taking over and this may sound bad but - I think they need to be stopped.
People need to take this seriously - take a look at the past - It doesn't take an army to murder thousands and destroy millions of people's lives.

The encroachment of Western culture cannot be stressed too much. It seems trivial to most Westerners, but that is because of the failure to understand that Islam is a cultural religion that deifies 7th Century Arabian culture.4
Westerners tend to view religion as something intensely personal and private, and not as a cultural phenomenon. For example, Christianity is “supra-cultural” in that it allows people to live, dress and eat in accordance with the culture in which they exist. This is not so with Islam. In Islam there is no “secular realm” that is free of religion. Islam regulates every aspect of life to the point that religion, politics, and culture are inseparable. Islam is thus fueled by a subtle form of racism in which 7th Century Arab culture is to be imposed upon all other cultures.
Here are some examples of the cultural nature of Islam:
Political Structure — The tribalism of 7th Century Arabia is the political structure sanctioned by the Koran. The chief has absolute authority. There is no concept of civil rights. This principle is reflected today in the reality that all Islamic countries are ruled by dictators, and civil liberties, like freedom of speech and religion, do not exist.
Prayer — A Muslim is required to pray five times a day toward Mecca. This is a symbol of the underlying cultural imperialism that lies at the heart of Islam. Think of it — what if all Russian Orthodox throughout the world were required to pray toward Moscow? Or, if all Roman Catholics were required to face Rome when they prayed? What if Evangelical Christians were required to pray toward Jerusalem? Such requirements would imply a cultural attachment to the focal point of prayer.
Pilgrimage — A Muslim is required, despite the hardship and cost, to make a pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia once in his lifetime. Again, what if all Christians were required to go to Rome once in their lifetimes?
Dietary Laws — The only foods allowable are those that were acceptable in 7th Century Arabia.
Women — What an illiterate, nomadic tribeswoman wore in the desert in 7th Century Arabia is what is mandated for Muslim women today. The plight of women in Islamic countries today is despicable. They can be kept prisoners in their homes. They cannot appear in public without a covering. They are usually denied the right to vote. They are often denied anything more than a rudimentary education. In strict Islamic countries, women are generally treated as sub-human.5 Sura 4:34 says, “Men are the managers of the affairs of women . . . Those women who are rebellious — admonish them, banish them to their couches, and beat them.”
Punishment — Cruel and unusual punishment is practiced throughout the Islamic world. Incarceration without due process is common. Punishments often include torture, the cutting off of body parts (hands, ears and tongues), the gouging out of eyes, beheading, and public flogging — all representative of 7th Century Arabian culture. The Koran specifically commands that those who disobey Allah are to be tortured (Sura 8:12-14).

Man, i don't understand why people are trying to misrepresent Islam! You put your Que. in the nicest way possible. There are fanatics in all religions. May be worse than those, who blow them selves up! I am a moderate Muslim who grew up in a moderate family and all my friends and their families are also moderate. NOT ALL THE PEOPLE ARE THE SAME!

You make an excellent point. Few misguided ones don't represent an entire religion. Islam stresses on peace and fighting is only allowed in self-defense.

Why is the following in the Muslim Holy Book?
The Qur'an, Surah V 51 says; O you who believe! do not take the Jew and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.
In the Qur'an's Surah IX, v.30 it also says: And the Jews say: Uzair is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!
Islam teaches Muslims to hate and destroy Jews and Christians. It is not a religion of love and tolerance for their brother human beings. They are to "Strike the infidel at the neck"
There are no Christian or Jewish writings such as these pertaining to Holy Scriptures or Religious teachings. If these verses are taken out of context, please put them in their proper context to show me how they do not support the destruction of non-Muslims, namely to do away with Christians and Jews.

So is Christianity and Judaism. Check the Bible out. You can read when God orders Israelites to exterminate other peoples to go to the Holy Land. There are many passages out there instilling violence. Read when they exterminate the Benjamites. There are many passages narrating religious intolerance and narrating genocides...

Only a minority of a cancer is needed to become malignant before the entire mass reaches deadly metastasis. Radiation or surgery should be applied before it spreads further unchecked.
Oh yeah...you pompous crybaby. Just because someone doesn't AGREE with you, doesn't mean they didn't answer your flippin question. Here is a concept you Muslims need to understand. Some of us think for ourselves.
