What blank cd to use?

I want to burn a game for a friend and I'm not sure what type of blank cd to use? A dvd one or CD one etc????

As the others have mentioned , it depends on the size, If its more than 700MB you have to burn it on a DVD, thats it if you have a DVD writer/burner. Some DVD ROM can play CDs and DVDs but burn CD-R only.

If the game is originally on a DVD, you'll want to get a DVD. If the game is on a CD, you'll want to get a CD.

Sometimes, CD-ROM drives have a hard time reading burned discs from certain software if you burn it on a CD-RW (re-writable) or a DVD-RW, so you'll definitely have more luck if you get a regular of it (CD-R or DVD-R) which just means you can't erase it and put more stuff on - it's permanent.

Also, if there is a serial number for the game, you're going to want to make sure you either write that on the CD or give it to your friend, so they can install it or play it properly. Make sure they don't go online with it, if it has an online mode (some games have online multiplayer) because then the company's servers will see the same serial number, and they will shut you down for good!

- check out the game disc. Is there a label stating DVDROM or CDROM? Just use the same.

- Check the size of you game disc. Insert the game disc into your Cd/DVD drive. Use your file manager. Right click on the Cd/DVD drive icon on the left and select Properties. You should see the total size. If it is less than 700MB, use a CD, else use a DVD.

Depends on the file size. IF, it less than 700 MB then a cheap CD-R will work. IF, it larger you need a DVD.
