Don't steam chicken-it tastes terrible. Roast it or grill it. Any of the cooking methods for the broccoli in the other answers will work, but RayRay's is the best. By the way-if you actually put a vegetable into boiling water that's called boiling it, not steaming it- and nutrients will be lost whether you are the professional chef source or not.

steaming brocoli is a good idea. it dosen't leach as many of the vitmans as boiling does and is a good way to cook. all you do is put the food in a steamer basket, then put the basket in a pot with some water in it. when the water gewts hot you get steam and steamed food. as for the chicken i would grill it.

here's a tip, put about 2 quarts of water on the stove and bring to a full boil, have your broccoli cut into flowerettes, drop them into the water, leave stove on high heat, bring back to a full boil, it is now done...it's very quick. now strain off the water and plunge the broccoli into ice water, this stops the cooking process, it is called 'shocking'. this method is used when having to prepare a large amount for banquets, otherwise it gets overcooked and gets mushy. the chilled broccoli can now be re-heated in a saute' pan with a little butter to serve...or add a salad dressing to the chilled broccloi. cauliflower cooks the same way. carrots take about 5 minutes

Place your food in a small amount of water over low-med heat until done and season to taste. You may not want to steam your broccoli or it will become soggy.
