Because we are omnivores and meat is a source of nutrition for humans.
And yes meat is meat regardless of species..
Gotta go; my rib-eye is ready!

Not all religions are against all forms of meat. Jews and Muslims don't eat pork, Hindus consider cows sacred and Buddhists typically don't eat any meat. There's no Christian prohibition on eating meat, although Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 8 that if the things we do or eat in good conscience will make someone else stumble--he was specifically addressing the issue of meat sacrificed to idols, though the idols themselves are nothing--then we should refrain from doing so.

I personally think eating meat is nasty. I haven't had it in about a year and feel better than ever morally, spiritually and healthwise.
I think The God of the bible never intended meat to be eaten. Adam and eve ate fruit and veggies. He let man eat meat only after the flood, the bible only talks about eating meat in rare occasions where is necessary or comanded. Jesus was most likely a vegan. Last supper only wine and wheat bread.
EDIT:
Funny how people are saying that our pointy teeth are designed for meat eating.
Try eating an apple, pear or almost any fruit or veggie without using your teeth and you will see it is impossible. what about peanuts or coconuts?
In fact, meat digest unnatrually slowly in our stomach, a sign that our stomach are not designed for meat. Fruits and veggies digest easy and makes us feel good.

The Word of God told Paul that nothing that He is not to call anything that He has made unclean. I eat the kinds of meat that I like because it is good to me. Human beings and animals are not the same. May God bless U.

I eat meat because God approves of it, It is extremely tasty, and people have been eating it since Old Testament times.
Eating animals is different than eating people. Why would anyone want to do that?

Because humans were designed to eat meat. What do you think the canines are for? Looks?
I'm not saying that vegetarians are stupid. I fully support cruelty-free living. But you can't deny that we were meant to be omnivores.

Humans are omnivores.
We require about 80% incomplete protein (plant matter).
And 20% complete protein (meat matter).
We're just another species of animal living on this planet, and we just happen to be higher on the food chain than most other animal (technically we're at the top).

.Tastes Great, More filling, taste great, more filling. Man kind started as a hunter gatherer, meat played a prominent role in our development, basically for its nutritional value. Especially in winter months.

It tastes good?
And humans are omnivores. Our very anatomy proves that we should be consuming at least SOME meat.
