I took a picture with my camera today, however, while the picture was being taken, my hand was not holding still, resulting in a blurry picture. Is there anyway i can make the pictureclearer by editing it, or using any programs? thanks!

any tutorials.guides would also be very helpful.

I have that same problem. Every once in a while i'd take real blurry pictures. A tripod helped me, and photoshopping the photo.

Regarding guides/tutorials, i found this and it might help:

It talks about taking photos of moving objects. That photography section for that site also has other information regarding other subjects related to photography.

Practice holding your camera and squeezing the shutter button instead of punching at it. Also, hold still long enough for the camera to complete taking the picture. Consumer digicams can be slow at capturing and storing the image, so be patient and still for an extra second or two.

Also, if your camera has a viewfinder (in addition to the monitor) use it instead of the screen. The camera will be more stable when braced against your forehead rather than held at arm's length. If you have to use the screen, hold your elbows close to your body and again, take your time.

Magic potions like PSP or PSCS are great for some things, but they can't fix an image that's significantly out of focus in the beginning. Some things you just have to get right from the beginning.

Unfortunately, blur is one thing that cannot be corrected in photo editing software. NO software can do this, regardless of what anyone may tell you. A blurred digital photo is comprised of pixels that have captured and recorded this off focus information as correct. Software cannot make something out of nothing. It all thinks this is a perfect photo. There is no "hidden" sharpness there to "find". Software cannot focus your camera for you. It would be the same as taking a photo of a person with a piece of cardboard over their face, then expecting photo editing software to be able to remove the cardboard and display the face. It just does not work that way. The photo is what it is. Remove the cardboard and there is nothing there... there is no face hiding behind the cardboard in the photo. Same with a blurred photo... there is no sharpness data there, and software is not going to magically create it. Post editing software is not the end all, cure all for all poorly taken photos. It is still, and always will be, important to get the photo correct in the camera in the beginning. Software can help improve some things and even create the illusion of more sharpness... BUT... there still has to be good, basic, sharp image data in the beginning. steve

Yeah like stated above me Photoshop is probably your best bet. You can also look into this free program Google offers called Picasa which is also helpful and easy for editing photos.

For future reference though, hold the button down halfway so it focuses the picture for you and that should definitely decrease blurriness. Or just turn on flash also.

Not a lot you can really do once the picture is taken.
If you have trouble holding the camera still and you don't want to use a tripod, you might want to invest in a camera that has a built in image stabliser.

Sorry, your best option is to go and take the photo again and remember ot hold still or use a tripod next time. Image sharpening software doesnt perform miracles. It's used to sharpen a soft image, not fix a blurry one.

Try Photoshop filter Unsharpen mask. That's my favorite for blur. It depends on how much blur there is in your photo though. Ypu can only do so much with Photoshop, best to ge the picture right the first time if possible.

You can "sharpen" an image and you can blur an image, but you can't put it in better focus than it was in the first place.

Sometimes, you can increase the saturation of a key color or two and make it appear more to your liking, even though you can't get it into focus.

Your best bet is to train your hands to be less, or not shaky. Or you could just use a tripod.

Current softwares are not advanced enough to make a blur photograph clearer, if it is ever possible. [It probably might be in the future, whether near or distant.]

It's hard to give tutorials as a lot of photo editing software go about it different ways.

For exmple, if you were to use Photoshop -> you'd use the Unsharp Mask for best results.

I dunno how Gimp or Paintshop Pro would handle it as I'm unfamiliar with those programs
