If they are not vaccinated against it. Can he stay at the vets until he is better? Once you have parvo in your house you need to BLEACH EVERYTHING. Parvo can stay a long time in your house and yard. I would bleach everything and keep the dogs seperated (or keep the pup at the vet) until he is better.

Goodluck & hope he gets better!

Yes, parvo is highly contagious and deadly. It can last a long time in the environment, perhaps as long as 9 months or longer, so seperating your dogs now will have no effect on their catching the virus, it's too late for them now. Hopefully, they have been vaccinated against it, if so, there's a good chance they will be OK, if not... generally, it takes 7-10 days from the time of exposure for dogs to start showing symptoms and to test positive for parvo. You say you seperated your dog that has parvo, I HOPE you have taken him to a vet for hospitalization. Most dogs DIE from parvo, and the treatment must be very agressive, and requires IV fluids, as dogs die from dehydration and blood loss. Parvo attacks the intestinal walls, and causes severe uncontrollable diarrhea with a lot of blood loss. Yes, that's bloody diarrhea. And it smells retched, and the dogs literally SPRAY it everywhere. NOT something you can cope with at home!

Parvo spreads like wildfire. That vet "worker" could were a janitor, because any vet tech could understand you will get parvo in basic terms from a canines touching an identical floor yet another parvo-contaminated canines touched. that's the reason it really is not any longer reccomended that you let a youthful pup walk on the floor, extremely at places like Petsmart or Petco, the position such truly some different canines were. Did your canines walk an identical floor? Did you wash your hand in-between petting that pup, and your own? if so, there's a probability. in case your canines starts to coach indicators-vomitting, diarrhea, etc, do no longer hesitate to run to the vet. extra acceptable secure than sorry. Very IRRESPONSIBLE of those proprietors to allow that canines on the floor, or to be touched, all of surprising first! Argh.

If your dog has parvo it should be at a vet clinic, not juse separated from the other dogs. If you don't get him proper vet care he will die.

Parvo is highly contagious and everywhere the dog has been in the past 2 weeks should be cleaned thorougly with bleach - this includes bleaching your grass where the dog goes to the bathroom, any bedding the dog lays on, carpet any of your dogs have walked on, and any chew toys it has access to. Everything needs to be bleached with a 10% bleach solution.

Your other dogs would likely be showing symptoms if they were infected, but it is important to have stool tests for all dogs that have been in contact with this dog. Most healthy adult dogs will not catch parvo even if exposed to it, but if they have not been properly vaccinated they could definitly have it as well.

Also, any dogs that go near anywhere that this dog has gone to the bathroom are in danger of catching parvo, so please clean everything thorougly, and don't let him go to the bathroom where you let your other dogs out.

This dog MUST go to the vet immediately.

Parvovirus is not an airborne disease. It's a comunicable disease transmitted by direct contact with an infected dog, or indirect transmission from fecal-contaminated objects.
Incubation period is 3-8 days, & viral shedding may begin on 3 day, even before clinical signs show. Mortality rate is anywhere from 16-48%. It is a very stable virus that is resistant to many disinfectants & may survive several months in contaminated areas. A 1:30 bleach dilution should be used to clean. Vaccination is critical.

Yes, if the other dogs have not had shots. Parvo lives for years in the ground. Just make sure the other dogs are vaccinated.

YES! Have your other dogs had their shots? I've been told that once there is parvo you'll need to sanitize your yard & home to be sure your other dogs are safe. This is one reason to be sure any new dog to the home, has its shots before socializing with other pets.
Hope its okay.
