The remote wire works as a switch. It will turn on/off any component that you attached to it every time you turn on your radio. If you have an electric antenna, amplifier, CD changer, or anything that turn on whenever the radio is turn on, that is the wire to connect to. If you doesn't have anything of this components then the wire have no use.

Are you talking about the remote wire in the factory wire plug? It runs to the factory amplifier (if equipped).
If you're talking about the remote wire from an after-market head unit, then it should be connected to the factory amp's remote wire if the vehicle is equipped with an Infinity sound system. This is usually a green/red wire in the stock plug, or a blue wire if you're using an adapting harness.
If your Intrepid doesn't have an Infinity sound system or a power antenna, and if you're not using an after-market amplifier, then you don't have to connect the remote wire to anything.

usually the remote wire is connected to an amlifier. The remote wire sends a power when the radio comes on which triggers the amp to come on.
