NO.
the oxygen it releases is part of its system of consuming and releasing energy. it is similar to our on respiration cycle.

Plants take in water, sun(electrons), minerals, and CO2...they then release our much needed O2.

I have read that because of the lack of food that plants go through when the sun is not feeding the plant this process slows or stops and the plant begins to used its stored energy.

the chemical process is as follows

6H2O + 6CO2 ----------> C6H12O6+ 6O2
6 parts of water are used along with 6 parts of air we cant breath. during photosynthesis it creates 1 part of gulcose which is a sugar that is the C6H12O6, and 6 wonderful little oxygens for us to suck in our noses.

OH....and the above listed chemical process is only occuring during photosynsthesis which requires light...so it could be anytime, with artificial light.

Only during the day. Plants need sunlight in order to produce oxygen (it's a byproduct of the photosynthesis process) and therefore cannot release oxygen when there is no sun light.

Whenever they are in the sunlight they do photosynthesis which releases oxygen as a byproduct of extracting carbon from carbon dioxide gas in the air.
