I hear atheists say that all the time. "religion is for the weak!"
What is weak about it ? How does strong convictions make your life easier? Both theists and atheists have both good and bad points to each of their lives.
Being a theists bad points are having to confront and deal with the sins of the heart and the good points are having comfort in times of need.
Being an atheists bad points having no one to turn to in times of need and the good points you can enjoy whatever sin you like to indulge in with no worries at all.
And, if you say atheists can turn to friends and family in times of need that just solidifies my point.
Atheists that live in a first world country like America and have no hunger or fear of war at your home front. Have a decent job and home, can live however they want and do whatever they want with not having to worry about answering to a higher power for they way they lived their life after the die. You tell me which way is easier to live.

Don't thumbs up Phyllis. Her point is moot.
I was not talking about my life specifically.
Read it again more carefully. Of course your thumbs up because it's a cheap attack. There is no validity to it.

to be honest i did not really understand the details you gave but to the simple question of "why is religion for the weak?" ... it is not just for them. religion is for everybody its just that people who consider themselves strong are too proud to accept the fact that religion is for them as well, but that is not to say that there are strong people and weak people, all men(and women) are created equal. the people considered weak are not weak at all they are humble and they believe and accept that there is someone above them. i don't know if that made sense i dunno its a bit hard to explain.
(sorry if i offended anyone in any way...that was not my intention)

A lot of people here in the States also are at least Theists, many more feel a personal relationship with Deity is possible. Well and good.
Religion -- whichever religion -- does not make a person weak. A sense of relationship with a being greater than self, a culture shared with others, a ready set of symbols and concepts to express the joys and sorrows of life -- all of these are a great comfort to a person. It is more difficult -- and not always wiser -- to endure without these shared experiences. Ultimately it becomes a personal choice, but not one that marks anyone in any situation as stronger or weaker than the next. Neither the theist nor the atheist has anything to defend.

weak hmmm? never thought being a Christian made someone weak. It makes me stronger always having to justify yourself and being persecuted for it. I have never gone to church to be told what to think, that might be nice (not really) I don't know why people that aren't Christians say they want to do whatever they want. I can do what I want. but gee....I cant kill anyone, I need to be faithful to my husband, I have to be an honest person and nice to people. I never thought that these were hard rules to live by. I didn't know that these "rules" kept me from living a happy fruitful life. also something that we as Christians are taught is faith with out works is nothing so we don't just sit around and pray and hope God will get us a job, house or anything else. We just have faith that God will provide for us and not give us more then we can handle. so, believing in the wonderous God who created us and loves us unconditionally doesn't make us week just blessed.

There are two sets of laws according to the apostle Paul. Just because athiests don't trangress secular laws doesn't prove that they are ethical.
1 Timothy 1:8-11
We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.
Transgress means to go beyond boundaries, degrees or stages. Whether the secular way of determining how quickly you can "grow" depending on your family background, race, creed etc. is "fair" is not the point. If you are not Christian, that's the system you need to account to if you overstep the limits. These limits are not decided on moral grounds. They're decided on the grounds of what people think they can handle so as to keep the peace, so that education in how to use the system etc. can proceed.
The main transgression for theists is denying God's help and assistance and ceasing to thank him for it. With God's help and the attitude of subjection to the superior authorities, the law system ceases to lose any meaning because all of the people involved in it need to be preached to as well, as the apostle Paul did.

Considering all the negative that Christians have in their day to day life when confronted with those that do not share that belief and actually make it a point to attack them for that belief - - saying that such a person is weak - - is a pretty weak point for them to make.
A simple look at the TV shows to see how they are portrayed gives a small hint of what many have to face every day.

I think the hardest point in life would being alone and without God you are alone. Seeking contentment on an intelectual basic seem like it would be cold and lonely. Atheism( in my view) seems like trying to fill a void with a set of morals I choose from. much like a cafeteria plan.. Atheism seem to be the belief(non) of choice. I also think it is the hardest to find comfort in. I believe it is very hard in a marrage setting.
These are only my thoughts about a subject I have never experienced.

I've worked VERY hard for everything I have. I don't pray to God for a job and then give him the credit for me getting it. I have no one to thank but MYSELF. Makes me feel pretty darn good to know that all I have is because of me. All my son has is because of me, not his father, not God, just me. That's what I get out of not believing in a God. The confidence to tackle anything on my own.
Oh and by the way, America may be a first world country, but that doesn't mean that everyone prospers.

Having strong convictions wouldn't make your life easier, it would make it more mundane. As for why athiests are atheists, you pretty much summed it up on your own. We enjoy living out life the way we like without some "god" telling us we are to be forever punished and rot in hell if we go against his will. Would you be friends with someone who threatens you with eternal damnation? I wouldn't.
So why worship them?

I'm a pretty big guy, and it would be easy to not be a Christian. I've been verbally attacked for no reason at all because of it. I go to church with an Oklahoma Golden Gloves boxing champion and several firemen, and nearly all of the men and some of the women I go to church with have a military background. Weak? Say that to our faces...

*there is not any data of god,the validity of the bible and christ.* as a results of fact of this that's noted as faith and not technology, regardless of the certainty that maximum people who have faith see data of the existance of God in each thing residing on earth. Why could a guy or woman with faith be vulnerable, to settle for faith is to settle for you have a responsibilty to a minimum of a few thing better then your self no longer an illustration of weak spot. faith does not make you vulnerable basically as no longer having faith does not unavoidably make you sturdy. I don;t understand what you propose by skill of get some thing incorrect however, to in lots of cases human beings subject themselves with the "perfect" faith, the "perfect" practices. All religions have the comparable problem-unfastened messages of the everlasting and God is soft so every physique that tries to stay an excellent existence and in accordance to their ethical experience (the voice of God) would be residing in accordance to God's will. i'm no longer weaker for believing, in my opinion believing makes me extra suitable.
