Most are 3 years, if you signed up for 4 years and didnt re-enlist by your 3rd year you will stay there for all 4 years. Just remember you cant always be guaranteed you will get the duty station of your choice unless its in your paperwork. Screw all that peace corp crap and dont listen to anyone saying you will die over seas, who cares why you are getting deployed, its still serving your country, regardless.

If you join the Army Active Reserves you can choose your assignment and live in Virginia. Its just like active duty only you are apart of a reserve component. This allows you to choose your assignments until you get the one you want. But if you are deployed to say the middle east there is nothing you can do.

Say you joined the Army for 5 years. You would be lucky to stay in one place for 2 years. You won't be able to pick where you want to be stationed. The Army picks for you, you go where they need you.

You might not be stationed there even once, or you might be stationed there for your entire service period. The former is more likely than the latter.

When you enlist, you agree to go wherever the Army needs you. If you joined the National Guard, you might be there, except for deployments (including to the border).

it really depends. You could end up staying there for good or you might not end up there at all. it really depends on what the army wants to do with you. You really don't get to say "Hey--i wanna go here ok?" and then have then say "alright sure! have fun!"...haha i wish it worked like that. sadly it doesn't.

you can request to be stationed there and hopefully you'll get it. the army enjoys sending people places like korea and stuff lately though so....good luck and hopefully you get your preference!

That would depend on what your job was, how long you enlisted for, and what you put on your dream sheet, (where you want to be stationed), and oh yes....probably the most important thing...the needs of the army.

hahahaha..... dont count on it. you will go to a highly deployable post ( fort hood, fort stewart (ahh... my old duty station) fort bragg). but no matter where you go.. youll go to Iraq and/or Af-crap-istan... and if you go national guard... you can plan on being deployed even more than active duty... you want my advice? join the airforce

Considering that the DNC is trying to get all our troops killed, you will probably be sent to Iraq imediately.

Trust me, you would be doing more service to your self and your country if you joined the peace corps.
