Hello!
There's a very effective product that we sell at the vet clinic I work at called "Wipe" or "FlyWipe"... something like that. Just rub it on the ears and it will keep the flies off the dog! It might be available at a farm store or coop if your vet doesn't carry it.
Good luck with those pesky flies!

You can go to a local veterinarian clinic and purchase a product called "Pet Guard". It is very effective, meant especially for keeping flys away from dog's ears. What it is, is a jelly type of liquid that is placed around the areas on the ears where the flys have started biting.
My guess is the fly bites started after the dog has been left outside and it's starting to warm up? If your dog is an outside dog you definately should purchase this product or one like it, because as it gets warmer the flys will get worse.

My dogs suffered from this problem until a sheep-farmer told me to smear a little Vaseline on the outer half of the dogs' ears. both inside and out. This prevented any further occurrence of fly-bites in my dogs, and cost me nothing as nearly everyone has a jar of Vaseline around the house. I have since heard the same idea from others. (Just remember to remove it daily and replace, so as to prevent build up of dirt, grit, etc.) Good luck

I bought some wound meds for my dogs it comes in a squeezable bottle and it would last for along time if the other dog didn't lick it off or if they don't rub it off. My dogs like to roll around in the dirt. I forgot what its called but Igot it from either Wal-mart or K-mart. It's a white bottle with a blue cap, if that helps and it has a picture of a dog and a cat on it.

Walmart should carry a bottle of Tea tree oil. You mix 2 parts water to 1 part tea tree oil and you can spray on the animal and around bedding to help keep flies and gnats fleas and ticks off. Works for about 5 hours each good spray.

Get some tea tree oil. They carry it in the supplements (like calcium, st john's wart, etc) section at most stores. Rub a drop on each ear and it should keep the flies away!

Creams work better cause they stay on the ears longer, look for it at the pet store for flys on dogs. we got it at Mize farm and garden center before, just don't remember the name but it is a cream you rub on them !!
