It's called Axillary Hyperhidrosis and it can have a medical cause. Have your brother see a doctor, and see is there is an underlying medical reason for him sweating so much. The doctor can also recommend the best treatment.
I've heard that botox works... but I don't know of anyone who's tried it.
" In extremely low doses, botulinus toxin has been adopted in cases with localized muscle hyperactivity (lid spasms, torticollis, etc), resulting in a reduction in transmitting impulses to the muscle. Initial reports have been published regarding the use of botulinum toxin in hyperhidrosis. It seems to work quite adequately in axillary hyperhidrosis, lasting for 6-12 months depending on the dosage (0.5-1.0 Units/cm2;). A drawback are the costs of this treatment which has to be repeated at regular intervals, but the side-effects seem to be negligible if dosages are kept low."

The most effective antiperspirant has aluminum chloride (20-25%) in 70-90% alcohol, applied in the evening 2-3 times/week. This works in cases with light to moderate hyperhidrosis but has to repeated regularly, and may not work with your brother.
Really.... have him see a doctor.

My suggestion may seem funny at first but wait til you try it...Use calamansi that was cut into half. Use around 6 fruits on each armpit by spreading the juice. Let dry for around 30 min to 1 hour. Have a shower and soap armpit well but don't rub to the max. Do this everyday for a week, then every 2 days the succeeding week, then twice a week, then once a week, then one in two weeks, then once a month (or whenever you want to). On top of this, he may want to monitor his diet -- less meat, more vegetables, fish, and fruits --- and more fruits. These are just suggestions. Some of my friends followed it and it worked with them since everything else failed (e.g. deodorants). Let him try it.

Maybe he is WEARING TOO Much SYNTHETIC clothing. These days its in EVERYTHING.From underwear/boxers,socks,jeans,shirts and even in the insides of your shoes. If he doesn't have what the others listed then maybe it's the clothing. The overload of SYNTHETICS! Because even if you aren't feeling HOT,your body can be caused to sweat when wearing synthetic materials, shoes alone have this affect on me.
Is cotton more hygienic than synthetic?
Man-made fabrics don't provide the same ventilation that natural fibers do. Because fungi flourish in dark, moist environments, constrictive, synthetic garments can create an ideal habitat for yeast to multiply. All-cotton underpants permit air to circulate below the waist. Due to its unique fiber structure, cotton breathes and helps remove body moisture by absorbing it and wicking it away from the skin.

Your brother might have hyperhidrosis---excessive sweating of the armpits. Like the other posters, check and see whether he is using a deodorant or an antiperspirant.
Antiperspirants stop sweat. Here's a good article about antiperspirants and excessive armpit sweating.
Check it out.

My husband has the same problem. He armpits get soooo red and sore. He also sweats so bad that his clothes look like he has salt on them. He uses Gold Bond Medicated powder and that really helps alot.

Ah, I have that problem too. Either go and get some like, heavy duty dermatological deodorant (doesn't smell like pretty flowers or anything but it helps because it has meds in it) or just carry deodorant in your purse. It sucks but some people just sweat more.

Putting white vinegar in the rinse water when the laundry is done will help with the underarm stains.

There is a really good deodorant that can be purchased on line. It is called Crystal and has no aluminum chlorohydrate. Try searching Google for it. Good luck.
