People have stated that Don Imus' comments are not more racist than things Al Sharpton has said.
However my wonderful Irish father would say that men aren't suppose to talk that way about women.
Isn't that an issue?

Understand he wasn't referring to white people when he said the "nappy hoe" comment. Sure it was forwarded to the Rutger's women's team, but that comment was very...powerful..um..to say the least. And you see the ricochet those words caused. But I'm fair on this, he has tried in vain to apologize. He knows it came out bad. And hey, it takes a bigger man to stand up in front of his accusers and say "Yes. I screwed up. I'm sorry." And really express his sincerity honestly. He's the first person I've seen to do it thus far. (Tell me I'm lying.. Hell, I'll repost if you want...)

Don Imus was certainly out of order in proclaiming his prejudicial statement about the women at Rutgers. He is old enough to know better and ought to start looking for a new job elsewhere.

I don't watch or listen to Imus, however, I did hear the remarks he made. While I don't find these remarks to be racially based in any way, I found them to be offensive nevertheless.
I am offended that he would address a group of female teenagers in those terms and I hope his ratings suffer for this.
God Bless You....Peace.

I agree completely with your pop.
Mr. Imus, however, has made a career of saying things he really oughtn't to say. So there would seem to be a sizable group of people for whom that is not an issue.

It's all about context, and how funny the person saying racist things is.

The problem with Imus and Michael Richards is...they weren't being funny. Dave Chappelle and Carlos Mencia can say all kinds of racist things and get away with it because they're being funny.

Yeah, Irish ppl don't talk the way Don does. Don's a comedian and he went a bit overboard on that.

The part that everyone is saying is racist is his reference to their hair. Anyone can be called a 'ho, though. Your father undoubtedly was referring to that part of the comment. No man should call a woman a whore, unless it is my ex- wife. If your father knew her, he'd agree!

A real man would have no means in bashing a woman, for a gentleman is taught this.

just goes to show the very breakdown of the fabric of family. women act like men, men act like women.

Manners have passed away and vulgarity reign supreme in our lust for total freedom we have lost our souls and no longer try to better ourselves each day therefore we have become the evil we once disdained.
