It spent the weekend at my home and I was really glad to have found where it belonged. But when I carried it home, the owner gave me a thank you note and money, I really don't want to keep the money, I want to take it back with a note and just explain, I did it out of love for animals nothing else. Do you think they will be affended?

No they wont be offended.
Ive returned people's pets plenty of times and have had people return the reward i gave them. They were just happy to have their pet back! Seems like you are a true humanitarian like me. Just return the money and let that "feel good feeling" sink in. :) You'll be glad you did!

the owner was glad to get his dog back and happy that it was well treated over the weekend.

The reward is earned , and you did have some expenses if you fed the dog and looked after it.

If you want to return the money thats fine though. Taking it back with a note is a good idea.

They should not be offended.

You sound like a really good person, wish there was more people like you in the world. I would either buy something for their dog, or donate some things to a local animal shelter that would be really good thing to do with it and then just right them a letter letting them know that you did it because you have a huge love for animals. I don't think that this will bother them I think they will just see that their are still people in the world that do things out of the kindness of their hearts and not just for money.

No. My husband one time had not gotten the back gate in our yard latched when he mowed. He thought he double checked it but he was wrong and when we let our dogs out to go potty they got lose and we did not realize it for about 15 min. When we went to bring them back in the house they were gone and I freaked out. Several hours later we found that one of our neighbors had caught her and put her in their yard and was going to post flyers the next day. I tried to give them a cash reward and they would not take it. I was not offended at all. I did still want to some how reward them for keeping my baby safe so since they did not want to take the money the kids and I made them a thank you card and a goodie basket that consised of cookies, banana bread, fruit. They accepted the basket and said it was not necessary but they were also kind enough to take care of my baby for several hours and see to her well beig durning that time. They had put water and food out for her. You are to be congratulated for being so kind. I am sure she was very greatful. Just tell her how you feel do not leave a ote, talk to her. If she seems offended the accept the money with a thank you.

Wow. What a position to be in. for sure puppy possession isn't a extreme priority such as your daughter so i imagine you need to favor to take action. i'd imagine you've already talked for your daughter about the magnitude of preserving this way of small element threat-free and it would want to easily be stepping into a unmarried ear and out the different. i imagine you need to do what's maximum proper for the domestic dog. Is there any way that she ought to judge letting you keep the domestic dog so as that the grandkids can nonetheless see it? i do no longer comprehend how a lot the youngsters are connected to the domestic dog, yet when it took 12 hours for every body to appreciate it became lacking, who knows proper? And that ought to easily be 12 hours that you had him, no longer such as the time he wandered. I say only you may make the alternative, yet i wish you'll do what's maximum proper for that undesirable little domestic dog.

sounds like you are an animal lover and a very kind person. I do not think that they would be offended for you taking back the money. We once lost our dog through the electric fence lining our large property. When the person brought our pup back we were so grateful, and I think you should keep the money, you did a good deed!

I think it is great if you decide to keep the money and if not, you may decide to donate it to a shelter or organization that rescues animals. Then you could send a note to the owner and say that while you appreciate his consideration in giving you a donation, you have decided to donate it to ______org.
I don't think he would be offended at all at anything that you decide to do with it and if you retrun it he may insist that you keep it anyway.
I am glad there are people like you!

Absolutely not. They offered the money out of gratitude, but it is not offensive to deny the money. They'll understand that some people do it because it's what's right. They also know some people EXPECT a reward for finding a dog, which is why they offer the money in the first place.

I was paid $50 once, for finding someone's cat. I thought that was a bit much.

You lucked up. My ex-neighbor's dog had been missing for close to a month. One day after I got home from work I was walking my dogs and found her dog in my yard. I feed and watered the dog. Later on that day I got tired of waiting on her to come home so I just put her dog in its pin(in her back yard). She later accused me of keeping her dog! What a ***** huh?! I told her that the least that she could do was say "thank you" for finding it, feeding it and returning it. I love animals more that humans and would never do what I got accused of-so be thankful of the courteous people that got their dog back.
