pedialyte, well you can cure it but, it will take a lot of work to keep them alive. When my dog got parvo i got a water bottle with a sport top the one you can squirt. I filled it with pedialyte and forced my dog to drink it. you should make them drink at least a cup liquid three times a day and try to flush it out of his/her system. Depending on how old this puppie is he/her may not servive. however my dog did. I stayed by her everyday untill she was better. I had to force her to eat and drink. I feed her chicken broth. I also had to carry her out side. I even slept on the floor next to her untill she was well.

All you can do is try your hardest. If you don't try the pup will die in a week or less.

I have a dog that survived parvo. He contracted it at about 6mo of age and will now be 3 in mid June. I did hospitalize him, after I debated my options, which cost me about $800.00 by the time it was over. There is 1 option and that is cheaper and that is to get IV supplies from a feed and tack store. You either need to know how to start an IV or know someone that does. The puppy will need an IV of normal saline and one with potassium and it will need to be on IV fluids for at least 3-5 days depending on how long the animal continues to be lathargic. Once the puppy is getting back to normal after about 4-5 days you can try it on small amounts of wet food to see if it stays down. If it does not stay down continue the IV for that day and try again the next day. If you can not do this it would be best to put the puppy to sleep to ease the suffering. As far as the residence and sorrunding yard goes parvo lives in the ground you can get advice about treating the area from a local vet over the phone usually at no cost. I wish you the best of luck.

Unfortunately, there is no cure. THe puppy will die within 5 days. Its horrible. It is highly contagious to other dogs. You cannot get another dog for two years in the same environment.

My Rottweiler died of Parvo at 9 months old. We had to bleach the yard. I brought him home with an IV and he died in my arms. They pee and vomit stomach bile which is dark yellow to orange. Give the dog gatorade or Pedialyte (to replace fluids).....I'm so sorry!
