Well I guess thats one justification for being fat. But I know for me personally, the desire to look good for my husband and be fit enough to enjoy the things I like to do--hiking, whitewater rafting, skiing, etc--is important. I don't want to just sit around and wait for life to end. An obese person sits there at the end of their life and complains about all the things they never got to do.

As I get older, the desire to see my children grow up, to see my daughter walk down the aisle and get married. Then to see my grandchildren.

Yes I'm sure if none of that matters to you and all that matters is your spiritual soul, I guess you could just live life while waiting for death. However, I know many people believe where the bible talks about your body is a temple to God and that it is highly disrespectful to Him if you just torture your body. Suicide is a sin and if you are intentionally killing yourself b/c you can't wait for a spiritual reward, that seems the same to me as suicide.

So I don't agree with your quote "to gain the whole world but lose your soul". If you strive to be attractive and thin, pleasing to your husband--it has nothing to do with losing your soul. If you strive to live life to its fullest and don't take for granted that life is precious, that is how you keep your soul.
