Here are some examples of special pleading. See if you can figure out why it's a spurious form of argumentation.

Example: "Cocaine use should be legal. Like all drugs, it does have some adverse health effects, but cocaine is different from other drugs. Many have benefited from the effects of cocaine."

Example: "I know you think that I should be giving my money to the poor, but you've never been rich before. There are things about wealth that you don't understand."

Example: "I know the idea that ball lightning is caused by ghosts makes no sense to you, but that's only because you're human. Humans cannot understand supernatural phenomena."

Example: "The human eye is far too complex to have evolved from a simpler system, therefore it must have had a more complex creator. That creator would be God. No god doesn't need a creator ibecause he isn't bound by the laws of the universe. He exists outside of time."

A priori statements. All of the defense arguments are for the person or group that benefits from it. They center everything around a beneficial idea and go from there instead of using the five senses to rationalize it.

yes , its an opinion , either based on logical fact , or theory , that is twisted with words as to pull anothers mind into the orbit of the thought with no real proof of the discovery of truth concerning the pleading .
