To pick the right and truthful religion is a hard one, because I really don't think any of the religions are prefect or correct...all religions has their good points as well as their bad points..check the good and the bad points that each church you visit or check out..You can study about the different ones, go and check them out for yourself..Make sure they teach the whole Bible though and none of the other side books saying this is from God, there is only one book and thats the Book of Life, the Bible..There are many religions out there that has a lot of man made rules as well watch out for them, its not of God...Stay in prayer and hear and listen to what God is telling you as well as showing you..Good luck and God Bless..

I like your question even though our answers will not satisfy you.
I chose my faith based on God speaking to my heart one day. Lots of jargon, I know. I was in a teen meeting one day listening to a message from the bible and when the person asked if anyone wanted to be "born again". I felt the tugging inside my spirit. Again, you have to experience it to know what I mean. It can't be explained with words because it is spirit induced. Perhaps one day you'll be in that position.
I believe in Jesus because the pure history of the God of the Jewish people is incredible. (it should be if it is indeed true) I know that for the most part they don't believe in Jesus but they will, one day, according to scripture. All other religions believe in works. What I mean by that is you must be a good person and do good things to gain a reward. Being Christian is nothing of the sort. It is about a relationship with God and out of that your life will slowly change which in turn stirs us to be what Christ was. That's why you see some Christians who do questionable things. Being good outside of God, in God's eyes means nothing. Back to those other religions, I've had contact with all of them but I have not studied them much or participated in them because I have never been attracted to them. I see their lives and some TV programs and occasionally some written material on other religions and they do not compare. The God written of in the bible is very unique. He is loving but also just and righteous. He has given all of us a chance to have relationship with Him but it is a matter of us believing. Time and time again there are stories in the bible that demonstrates that. By the way, I do read lots of science literature, mostly because it substantiates my belief. I always read everything looking for error. And let me say this, the bible is spectacular. Historically, archaeological and most importantly, it reveals Gods nature. Nothing like it anywhere. Even the small details are amazing considering how long ago it was written.
I also want to tell you that no matter how much you try to understand God apart from becoming what we call born again, it will be impossible. My sister asked me once how do you know there is a God. All I can say is that if you are completely sincere, Ask, ask God to show himself to you. Don't expect an audible voice or an old testament revelation like Moses got, rather listen inside just like you do right now with your conscience. I believe God to be the creator of everything we see, including us. I also see nearly every person on this planet looking for something out of life. Whether it be a great friend or event where people gather in unison, does it surprise you? Doesn't it make sense that God would create us with that exact need? But lasting satisfaction only comes in Him.
This is too long - your question made me do it.
PS: there are many churches and denominations. I chose a church that adheres as closely to biblical standards without ritual, as I could find. Whatever the choice, it better put God first above ALL things. I'm some form of protestant I suppose.

I have never sought a correct religion; but rather a true understanding that would be confirmed in my own heart.
After many, many years of looking (the truth is we do not seek God, God seeks us.) thinking I "had it" from time to time; I gave up for the most part even though I had two great revelations that I know were forever correct.
I had been through many, many religions and churches and teachings and done my share of reading. I did more than just vacation tours, but spent some serious time exploring belief systems myself and with people who were committed.
Well, it is kinda like what I once heard said about male-female relationship. " You chase her until she catches you."
Religions are a place, like a house of mirrors, where you could run around forever and never find the truth.
One day, about six years ago, a stranger came to my door. He was a man in his late 30s with pepper gray hair and a beard. He was carrying some small booklets. He said he lived down the road and asked if I would care to go to church with him some Sunday.
When anyone I am not expecting comes to my door, and even faintly looks like they are there to solicit, I am highly defensive and resistant. Unless I've called for you, I want you off my door step asap.
This case was different. In the few sentences he spoke he was very reticent and seemed to have a speech impediment which I related to some brain damage. I seemed to recall seeing him feed horses a mile or so down the road.
Well I got to feeling sorry for this guy; No friends, nobody to talk to, so on. I took the booklets and told him I would think about going to church with him. He seemed to know me. He told me his name was Gary. We said good by.
I closed the door and found I had three 5x8 booklets of about 50 pages each. Sermons by some preacher I never heard of. Anyway I was by myself for a few days and during that time I read all three booklets and they answered most every question I had ever had about the Bible, things related to far east teachings and my own personal problems over a life time.
When I got the answer to my first question, a voice seemed to speak in my head and say -- This is the way, walk ye in it. Inside my chest came a strange thing I cannot describe. It was like there was a pointer inside my chest that changed direction. My best analogy is it was like a compass that was stuck. It was pointing in one direction but the needle came loose and pointed true.
God hides in human hope. There is no right religion only the right person and the right relationship. The way I came was by revelation and it is by revelation always. To make a long story short; it was a journey of more than 50 years away from Christiantiy only to find Jesus Christ.
For six years the revelations have continued without ceasing and the Bible has not only become something to quote but a living word that proves itself; speaking to the working of God, to issues, to events, to people, and to my own life.

Faith. I believe the Bibe with all of my heart. I have studied other religions and have come to believe that being a Christian is the right religion. I have been raised a Christian my hole life and I am glad. I am made fun of constently because my best friend is Mormon so I am told I cant be a true Christian. I know that Christianity is the right religion so I do not allow these things to bother me. Yes it hurts but I move on because I know I am in the right religon.

Good question. I was raised a Catholic but I did a lot of studying and reading and praying while in college which confirmed my faith.
It comes down to one issue - authority.
I had a lot of Protestant friends who were all reading the same bible and all coming up with different answers. Then I would look again at the Catholic Church and see her teachings had never changed. You open a Catholic catechism and you know EXACTLY what is taught and what is true.
Ask 1000 Protestants what the bible teaches and you will get 1000 different answers. Clearly, Jesus did not mean for the true Church to be that way.
When you study the history of the Church you see that Catholicism has endured since the beginning. All other denominations are "offshoots" of Catholicism and all of them just keep on splintering into more sects.

You answered your own question in a way. I believe that my religion is the right one for ME, as it teaches the core values that I try to live my life by. If you take religion out of the picture I treat others as I expect to be treated, I dont steal, I try not to lie, all basic social norms for us to live toghether in civil manner. My religion< catholic teaches these basic values as a religious belief and as you well know, many of our laws can be traced to a simple stone tablet containing 10 simple religious laws to live a good life by. If you took my religion away tomorrow I would still live my life as I do, but what would be missing is something to believe in than what man has to offer, and I dont like what the non religious have to offer as an end to my living a good life. Without something bigger tha ourselves to believe in, whats the point.

I know that I'm in the right religion (path) for ME because it's what feels most natural and comfortable (I am Druid). Now I know that my path is not one that many others would choose and I respect that. I just wish people would stop being SO damned headstrong in their own religions that they feel they have to force them on everyone else, thinking theirs is the only way. I respect other people of other faiths and paths, so long as we can discuss the different aspects with learning in mind and not bigotry.

I suppose you know where you fit in. You feel comfortable and the belief system fits right into what you feel. It's like a little light goes off in your head and you think, "Hey, this all makes sense to me!" I am Baptist, but I know that I do not need a particular "Religion" to help me to love the Lord. That all comes naturally and w/o any strings attached! Good luck in your search!

I didn't. I recognized that ALL religions can be corrupted by men, but equally, all Christian religions have the potential to be the right religion for the many kinds of people out there. The real key is to have a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Once you actually know Him, religions don't matter anymore.

Good question. I don't know if this qualifies as an answer, but---
"Conclusion" is an interesting word to use.
It implies that one's efforts are done, and that no additional insight will be desired or accepted.
I personally would rather know about paths than choices in regard to religion.
