Snag-it. It was free at a time, but I'm not sure if it still is. There's another link to a list of freeware that have screen capture in their description.

Not sure which of these you meant so here is both.
This is real easy...
1. Select 'alt / prt scr' keys, this will capture your screen into a clipboard.
2. Then open your Paint program and select 'ctrl / v' keys to paste your screen into the Paint program.
3. Then 'save as' to a folder. Or print it out.
If you are looking for a slide show for your desktop try this one.
Webshots is my favorite Web Site. It is a small program that does wallpaper and slideshows. Lots of photos to d/l. And it is free.

I really like MWsnap, a free program that you can minimize and use while your using other full screen applications (games, video, etc.). It allows you to save the screens to the desktop or whatever folder you want, and has lots of other options for taking shots (full screen, active window, rectangle selected area, etc.).
Plus, it can automatically start up minimized on windows.

God, I totally relate, and most of these other people don't get it. I use FSX constantly and take lots of screenshots, but I can't minimize to paste it anywhere due to game performance. I use MWsnap like Brandon said, and its great.

The program is called "FastStone Capture" and it's free.
It takes captures screen shots and pictures of websites that use Flash.

you don't need one. press the PRINT SCRN key to the right of F12 and that will make a screensot and copy it into the comps clipboard.
open a graphics editor and click on edit > paste as new image

If you are using Mac OSX, control+shift+4 will take a screen snap. Use your help menu "screen snap" for assistance.
