no you dont have to have an amp. but they will get a lot more power that way. most head units are 18-22rms and a good set of 3way speakers can handle around 100rms. an amp unlocks its true potential

There's not necessarily a difference between a 3-way and a 2-way speaker in terms of power requirements. For most after-market car speakers, a separate amplifier is helpful but not required.

In other words, no, you probably don't need an amp. If you want to make sure, then contact your speakers' manufacturer.

no they don't need a amp, but when a amp is hooked up the 3ways speakers can really crank out some sound

no u dont need an amp. but if u use one use a smaller one not a big one. u will blow ur speakers
