Because Adam and Eve committed a sin, the events of our Earth changed. The populations became so corrupt that God had to destroy almost everything and restart. Even Noah sinned after the Ark landed on Ararat. It was then God chose Abraham to start a new nation, Islam and Judea ism came from Abraham. Mankind was still corrupt and so Gods plan was to give us a way to repent our sins and open a way for us to enter into heaven. Jesus dying on the cross was already foreseen and predicted in the old Testament. There is no what if Jesus had not been crucified. He took all of the sins of the past and all the sins of the future onto his person. he died for each of us as individuals. Ergo the world as it was before Crucifixion, during and after have been redeemed by Jesus. All one has to do is accept Jesus as their savior and repent their sins and they Will be given eternal life.

The gates of Heaven would still be closed. Nothing man could do could reconcile him with God...close the chasm caused by man's fall.
Also, the world would be different. I believe that the role of Satan has been significantly curtailed, believe it or not, since Christ's saving sacrifice. Recall when he (Satan) tempted Christ, offering Him all the kingdoms of the world? He claimed they had been given to him...and Christ did not rebuke the claim.
Interesting, yes?

well, there'd be a huge market for sacrificial doves and such...but seriously, Christ's impact on the worldd lies in His death and resurrection-without these, He's just another well-meaning rabbi with special gifts...His impact on the secular world is subtle but enormous...think about it...He showed us that we are ALL God's children and all equally loved by God...i believe that had a political impact, which inevitably led to such ideas as 'all men are created equal'...and His love for and service to the forgotten, the down-trodden, the oppressed, gave hope to many whose lives would otherwise been a drab existence of being ground under the feet of the rich and the powerful...and proved an example to civil rights leaders the world over...

The world is the way it is because Jesus Christ did NOT sacrifice his life for anyone...he didn't even die on the cross...
God is in control of everything, not any one of his creations, and Jesus was one of God's fantastic creations...

Jesus' whole life from conception to His death was a sacrifice. It was a sacrifice for God to become one of us. Even if Jesus did not die on the cross, His whole life, even the hidden years, would have been recognized as a great sacrifice for God.

For those that beleive the illusion that you are alive right now, I profess out of compassion you do not understand the true meaning of "God" or the true definition of life.
You are not alive. In this life, you are born from mind and matter in which you have trapped yourself. You are very dead. In your constant cycle of rebirth you die a million deaths by your own device, called mind.
Christ was giving you a way out of this earthly cycle. As was Buddha.
But you turn a blind eye and choose to accept that what you see before you is the reality of the universe when in fact it is a product of mind and matter.
Jesus did not die on the cross. Jesus escaped death on the cross. As Buddha escaped death under the bhodi. This was a final yet reverberating statement for you to "seek and ya shall find". Experience one's own truth.
The bible is not golden. Nothing is golden, yet nothing is rusted.
Allow yourself to shed the concept of good and evil. They are illusions which keep you in the realm of mind and matter.
Heaven, Nirvana, Enlightenment, etc. is instantaneous if one would only chose to see reality as it is rather than how we would like to see it. This is the legacy of Christ. This is the word. The word is in one's actions, not on one's bookshelf or on one's belt.

Well, he didn't. I think a better question might be what would have happened if religious zealots hadn't succeeded in convincing people that some imaginary figure named Jesus Christ sacrificed his life for us.
