Although I sleep 9 hours a night and have had all the sleep apena testing I suffer from extreme daytime sleepiness. Narcolepsy is what the doc says. I have tried Addeerall and don't like it at all. I have read up on Provigil and it sounds pretty well tolerated. The Doctor also says I have fibromyalgia, But I am not for sure of that as I have been diagnosed with several spine problems and meniscal tears in knees, also some arthritis, that I figure they all kind of fall in the fibro range. So I am afraid Doc is just using the fibro thing to quit looking . SO as I have researched alot I am just interested in finding out from anyone that has used Provigil how well it works. It is so expensive I can't afford another batch of meds that I won't use.

I was recently diagnosed with Narcolepsy, but problem is the cataplexy (muscle weakness). I tried the provigil and it made my heart rate jump to 190 and I felt like a fire cracker about to explode. I talked a mile a minute and jittered and , oh Lord felt terrible. If you have any problems with your blood pressure or pulse I suggest you try something else. There is a new product called Xyem , but it is a pretty controlled substance. But iot is suppose to clear up narcolepsy problems in general. Good luck...I am in search too... Write me if you wanna compare notes.

I just got put on Provigil a month ago to help with my sleepiness. Mine was cause by a change in schedule and trying to keep up with a very active 2 year old!!! Because I suffer from bad anxiety, the doc wanted me to get on a normal sleep cycle to see if that improved the anxiety. It seems to help alot! Though the doc will recommend starting with half a pill, because the first time I took it, I took the whole one, and was very engergetic. I liked it though, because it wasn't that amped up, uncontrollable "Im awake!", but a more natural feeling energy.

My husband, who has severe fibro, uses Provigil at times. It really gives him a boost on days when he needs to get out of the house and be more active. He does not take it every day, and it seems best to only take it early in the day. Good luck.

I have been on Provigil on and off for about a year. Unfortunately, for me it only effectively works in conjunction with another stimulant to keep me awake. Due to a couple of head injuries without medications I am unable to stay awake for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. For others this medicine works. It all depends on your system.

My father suffers from sleep apnea as well and he was proscribed Provigil as well it keeps him focused but it is very expensive a couple of years ago it was in clinical trials in South Carolina for people for cocaine adddiction drugs go through drug trials for years there is a possibility that they are still doing clincal trials on Provigil (modafinil) if you live by a medical univeristy look into it the medication would not cost you anything

Provigil worked for me! You just need to make sure that you time it right so that you can go to sleep at night. I have fibromyalgia and it really helps me to function during the day.

i have fibro and chronic fatigue. i am sleepy all day long. it doesnt matter how much i sleep. so your dr may very well be right.

of course keep looking for more answers especially if you are satisfied with the ones you have.

however, do lots of research on fibro and chronic fatigue and see if what you are experiencing doesnt just line up with what you are living with. it is a very nasty and dibilitating illness that effect the whole body.

good luck with your search
