Now why would anyone find that funny. I would stand up and aplaud that mans bravery, then I would get my own beer and join him in a toast. Everyone knows that you have to be dead drunk to believe anything anyone says in church.

I would find that quite sad, that someone would feel so disrespectful that they would act so boorishly in the house of God. Anyone who would open a drink of any kind or start eating in a church sanctuary as church was going on is behaving disrespectfully, unless of course the church specifically says that is okay. Not many churches do though. I would likely tell an usher or someone of authority in the church, only if it is becoming a negative distraction, and let them quietly ask the guy to take his drink outside and return when he is finished with it.

I respect and honor our Lord--but I would laugh at the person if he opened a beer in church. I know it's disrespecting the church and I'm not laughing at that, just at the person. I couldn't help it.

Yes...

One time -
I was in college and home for the weekend. I had taken my younger cousins to Jillians the night before and used tickets won from games to get a shot glass. Sunday, in church, when I came back from communion (taken in individual cups), my cousin asked me, "Is that like a shot?" Of course, in a church everything echos. :-)

as long as he did it is respect that the Mass is a celebration with God... so a beer or two in a party should be acceptable.
unfortunately, not many (or hardly any) will agree with me...
you know la... many in the church hv hardened hearts, they cannot find the true meaning of the Mass....

btw.. me born catholic.. but i dont receive holy communion...
bcoz i cannot decide should i take it rare, medium, or well-done. even if i hv decided, i wont want to be a cannibal and eat someone i love.

I don't go to church, but I would laugh.

I'm also convinced that if I did go to church, I would walk out on a sermon that bashed gays, homosexuality, non-Christians, or women/contraception.

Proverbs 31:6-9
6 Let beer be for those who are perishing,
wine for those who are in anguish!

7 Let them drink and forget their poverty
and remember their misery no more.

8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.

9 Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.

No. I'd say he was exactly where he belongs. Amidst a bunch of real people who admit they need a Higher Power.
Not all religious people are hypocrites. Some of them are the most genuine people I've ever known.
