I mean let's face it, at least they'd get 3 squres a day, honest wages instead of begging, health care, a place to sleep, and staying out of jail. I see nothing but progress for these unfortunate people by joining the military. What do you think?

The D- If you learned how to type a few sentences that made sense, instead of rambling on about nothing, I would've understood your question.

If I were young enough sure. My Grandfather, Father and 2 brothers joined during times of war. I volunteered my services at the ripe old age of 18 back in 79, Military Doc said I had bad knees so I went into the Fire Service.

NO...

In the late 80's we (yes, I'm a vet) were downsized.... the military is NOT welfare, we need smart, motivated young folks....

The Homeless by and large are NOT going to be capable of completing military training... the military doesn't need the insane or unstable.

Amazing... what we SHOULD have done was implemented birth control among the thousands of coke-whores, wet-backs, welfare predators of the 80's... then we'd have fewer dead-beats... and more children raised under a sound-family.

My husband is a recruiter for the Navy. It's hard enough finding people that aren't homeless to qualify (passing the ASVAB, the drug test, the medical screening, the background check, etc.). I don't imagine many homeless people would qualify either.

I think it should be a choice for the homeless but i totally agree that criminals should go there. If they want to kill people kill the Al Qaeda. I know in many states it cost millions on tax payers dollars to feed, and house this "Death Row" inmates for over 20 years because of appeal after appeal. Save the USA tax dollars that could actually help the homless that want help or Katrina victims. Just my views~

Many of the homeless are homeless because they have psychological problems. Not all of them, but many of them are mentally ill people who don't have family that can care for them. They aren't qualified to serve in the military.

Don J, I served in the Air Force. I used my benefits to get a college education and I have led a productive life. I am a housing contractor and pay taxes. I have three children and next year I will be paying college tuituion for my oldest son. You are an elitist idiot who probably has had everything given to him by his parents. You lack the wisdom to know what the hell you are talking about.

Some of those homeless people already fought in a war.

More would be unfit for military duty

No. And the military is not for the uneducated and those who lack real skills. most people in america don't even qualify to be in the military. anyone who as a problem with the military and those who serve should try joinig and tell me how "easy" it is. i can assure you it is not. it requires dedication, and hard work.

I think since you have issues with the military you should be a man and tell the next GI or Marine that you see that you hate the military...

Many homeless have serious mental health issues and would not make it through training.
