Ideally try to figure out what is causing your depression. Is it real concern, maybe personal or job related stress. There are two kinds of problems that affect us. Those with a solution and those without. The later you just have to ignore. If there is a solution then put it in motion.
Because there can be so many causes I'll recommend three things you may try.
Try to relax, put your mind in an enjoyable environment. Take a deep breath and then exhale feeling the pressure escape. Then breath slowly with more emphasis on the exhale until you really feel relaxed.
Exercise is good if physiology is involved. If it's more emotional try reading a good book to displace negative thoughts.
If there's a specific event or issue that is bothering you. Find a comfortable seat. Relax and fix your eyes on a specific point or object in front of you. While you are thinking about the issue bothering you and without taking your eyes away from the point in front of you; become aware of objects to your right and left. Continue to hold your eyes to the front while being aware of the sides, especially any movement.
The discomfort of the event should dissipate with the awareness of your peripheral vision.
A forth method, insure your social network consists of positive people.
Good Luck!

Some forms of depression are severe enough that you HAVE to have medication. But there are things you can do that might help.
Get more sunshine, or even just plain brighter light: Studies have indicated that depression does occur more during the winter, when people don't get so much sun.
Try an exercise regimen: That will help rev your body up so to speak, and encourage it to release more endorphins (the body's natural 'feel-food' substances).
Meanwhile, find out why you're depressed. And deal with it.
Good luck.

I know that everyone says exercise but I don't think they grasp what depression does to you when you are severely depressed. It deprives you of energy and motivation. I think if you have clinical depression you should seek the help of a GOOD psychologist and make sure you get enough sleep. It is good to avoid things like caffeine. I do know that comfort foods can make you feel better as well but you need to make sure you control your portions or you could gain weight. Chocolate is known for releasing endorphins and therefore improving mood. Make sure you get enough sunlight too. Lack of light can actually make your moods worse...
Good luck...

Sounds like your 'binding principles' have you 'bound'.
Hebrews 6: leave the principles to go on to perfection.
Depression is oppression, witch is of the devil(law).
JC went about healing all "oppressed of the d-evil".
The cause of "wretched" is "another law" in Rom 7.
It's also called "the second" in Mt 22:36-40 law law.
Giving "place" to 2nd "finished" gives place to devil law.
See 2 "finished"s: John 17 & 19, then see James 1:15.
Law is both natural and spiritual abuse. It's abusive.
Natural remedy: flax seed oil capsules: no side effects.
Spiritual remedy: flush law in favor of grace is sufficient.
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
