This evening I went to turn the surrond sound off on my entertainment center, and I must have had static electricity built up because it zapped the surrond sound system. It still turns on and opens the DVD/CD drawer, but it won't play or anything, is there a way to fix it or we going to have to buy a new surrond sound system?

Modern electronics is sensitive to static discharge, which will damage the circuits. Try to find which part of you system is damaged, and replace that. You should not have to replace the whole system.

Absolutely, specifically steeply-priced grmanium centered semi-conductors. It is the task of designers to make their designs tolerant of the working atmosphere, adding delivering safeguard from static electrical energy. However, whilst the case is unfolded components can be prone. Anti-static sprays and wrist straps are to be had at Radio Shack and different locations for low fee.

It may need resetting. Unplug it from the AC outlet, wait 10 sec. and plug it back in. If it still does not work, it may still be under warranty. Static electricity damage is covered by all warranties.
Good luck

Unless you have purcahsed an expensive system, it will probably be in your best interest to get a new system -this time also invest into a good surge protection outlet system.
