Neither, they go hand in hand. The race is on to prove God exists...not disprove it.

Kings I: {7:26} And it [was] an
hand breadth thick, and the brim thereof was wrought like
the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies: it contained two
thousand baths.
Chronicles 2: {4:5} And the thickness
of it [was] an handbreadth, and the brim of it like the work
of the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies; [and] it received
and held three thousand baths.
Those two are talking about the same thing in the house of God Solom had to build! Once it says it contained two thousands baths, the other says it contained three thousands. Can this be God's words?
For any one looking for the truth: this is a contradiction. This is non logical! This is not Science..
Your religion contradicts science.

Historically speaking, religion has been the enemy of science. Gallileo, for example, was put under permenant house arrest by the church for suggesting that the universe did not revolve around the Earth, due to his observations of Jupiter and its moons.
Both science and religion attempt to explain nature and for many people it's either one or the other they ascribe to. It isn't difficult to accept both though.

The scientific process is incompatible with religious belief. Religion makes for an interesting subject to be studied in the field of anthropology and sociology. Science is largely ignored by religion.

Interesting question. Religion is man trying to reach out to God even though God sent his Son Jesus "Special Delivery" to mankind! Science in it's pure form is man trying to understand & test the world around him for knowledge of it's makeup. However Science (mans creation) has been morphed to suite mans directives (hello Mr. Gore!) to force beliefs on someone or something. Religion has also been morphed by its' creators, mankind & used to force beliefs on people. I think I'd stay clear of both! The more Science digs into Gods creation the less they understand. See, God uses Faith as a "Stumbeling Block" for the Arrogant & it works!!! John

Well little knowledge of science take you away from God, while in depth knowledge of science brings you closer to God. Here are some scietific facts from the Quran. here are some scientific proofs, it was only a few years ago that science told us that the sun rotates on its own axis, but Allah said this in the Holy Quran 1400 years ago in chapter 21 verse 33. It was only recently that science says that mountains prevent the Earth from shaking but my Creator, Allah said this 1400 years ago in Chapter 78 Verse 6 and 7. And another point, science only recently found that the universe is expanding but Allah said this in the Quran before 1400 years ago in chapter 51 verse 47.
Let me just write down one verse from the Quran about the formation of the rain. Allah says in the Quran (Chapter 30 verse 48)
"It is Allah Who sends the winds which stir up clouds which He spreads about the sky however He wills. He forms them into dark clumps and you see the rain come pouring out from the middle of them. When He makes it fall on those of His servants He wills, they rejoice."
Anyway im not an expert but you can check out some more scientific miracles in the Holy Qur'an. Inshallah May Allah guide you in the straight point. Check the site below which quotes so many verses about science in the Holy Qur'an.

If it's even possible for religion to contridict science, I'd like to see an example. But for science being able to prove things that contridict religion...possible and it's called paying attension in science class!

Julia,
They complement one another from the beginning to the end. There are theories that will eventually be proven or disproven in science but Religion is here to stay. Christ died and arose from HIS GRAVE because HE was GOD's SON. Have a great week.

Science is proving that the handwriting of God is on everything. We are not finding chaos, but we are finding order. When science works against the Bible we always see the lies and frauds show up. We've seen it in the fossils which were manipulated to defraud.

"Science without religion is lame; religion without science is blind", Albert Einstein.
No to both but some people want it to be that way. They use science as a tool to disprove religion, or at least, try to. That is easily seen on R&S all the time.
