i work at a hair salon and they use colors with ash to cut the red such as 4A,5a,6a and so on.hope this helps<3

Well, when I had *attempted* to dye my hair a deeper shade of red before my wedding, it went awry and my stylist (after a severe scolding) used a sulfur shampoo on it. It reeked, it stunk, and it worked. Got it back to my natural color.

They do use ash but becareful I wouldn't do it at home have a stylist do it. It is very important that you know what your doing or you may end up with a disaster. Just remember corrective color costs more than regular if you mess up.
