Even if I were to fully explain this to you it would not help.
You need to hear God's word for yourself.
Look at all the miracles that Christ wrought. But that did not save anyone. People are saved not because flesh and blood tell them but because it is revealed to them by the Father in heaven. Some even had Him put to death despite these obvious works from God.
So why did such a bad thing happen to such a good One?
Can you fully explain that?

There is no cause and effect between good people and bad things or bad people and good things. You are trying to simplify a complex world, and you will go crazy if you keep trying to rationalize events based on a percieved goodness.
Basically and as uncomfortable as it may be, **** happens
Be good, Do good, because it is right, not because you expect a reward or a pain free life.
Google the "4 noble truths" see if that helps you
No church attendance is needed

The same reason good things happen to bad people.
What is your definition of good? If we measure "good" against another human, our standard is wrong. Good can only be truly measured against the God of heaven.
Here will come a wave of thumbs down votes but we all deserve hell... ALL OF US!
But by His mercy and grace, God has made a way for His creation to enjoy His gift of life for eternity!
Attending church won't save you anymore than owning a car makes you a professional race car driver. It is a great start though. We ALL need to have a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with the God that breathed life into us!
I really hope this helps and I will be praying for your salvation!

I believe it comes down to free will. Every person is granted the right to make his or her own choices in life (eg, to take a cab, or drive while drunk, to vote for war or against, etc). Obviously, some people misuse that power to choose, and it affects other people around them, and from this comes much of the evil that exists in the world. That probalby doesn't sound fair at first glance, but the alternative is a world full of nothing but puppets, hardly real people at all. If we weren't capable of choosing wrongly, it would not matter if we chose rightly. I hope this helps. For a more thorough discussion, I recommend the book "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" by Harold S. Kushner.
PS--while it may be true that there is no such thing as a *perfect* person who has committed no wrong (discounting the very young--what did a newborn baby ever do to deserve to be born with a genetic disease?) there is certainly such a thing as a person whose suffering is far out of proportion to his "crimes" (eg, a sober driver killed in a drunk-driving accident). Therefore, the asker's original question remains valid and "there aren't any good people" is not a genuinely satisfying answer.

We live today in a fallen world, a world that's the effect of sin and separation from God. As long as we continue to live in this world, we cannot escape from being exposed to the bad things that happens. Like rain that falls on everyone, the bad things can happen to both the good people and the bad people.
Just like you, I have often asked this question and many others like, "Where is God when it hurts?, why do God allow good people to suffer? and so on. Sometimes, we can catch glimpses of thoughts that answers part of these questions but not completely. Some questions we will never be able to completely understand until we get to heaven or until we have gone through the problem ourself. One thing I have learnt and realized though, in my life, is that everything that happens, happens for a purpose and only God knows. For example, when someone close to me had breast cancer, I couldn't understand why? But today, looking back, I realized that God put me through this very painful and bad experience for a purpose and that's to help others facing similar situations. I found I could now identify better with their situation, understand their pain, their anguish, their torment, their sufferings, their loss, and their struggles, what these people are going through because I had been there. When I extend my offer to help them, they were willing and glad to receive my help and support because they knew that I understood what they were going through and was one with them in their times of trouble and difficulty. They knew they were not alone.
I would recommend you to read up on books by author Philip Yancy on these issues as I find his writings on these topics very down to earth and practical. Philip Yancy has this unique ability (to me) to verbalise and express in words and in their proper perspective answers to questions I have about things and issues that confuses me. What he writes makes sense. I trust you may find a satisfactory answer to your question in his writings, if you would just grab a copy from the library or bookshop (Christian) and dig in.
Keep searching!

That is a good question. Why are good people persecuted or harmed because of many things such as war?
Do you know who the Devil is? Yes, Lucifer, satan, whatever you'd like to call him. He is causing this world's miseries and terror, and innocent, kind people is just one group he targets.
Especially in christianity, he tries to tempt christians to go to the "dark" side. If the christians refuse to give in, no matter what, they have actually won the battle against the devil.
Jesus once said in the beatitudes:
"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake."
It is okay for nice people to be persecuted, because if they just keep going on, like Martin Luther King Jr., they will succeed.
Oh, and don't listen to Hetty Boo. She keeps saying bad stuff about us christians just because of our religion, when she could be leaving us alone. But I feel bad for her that she is missing her chance of going to a much happier place.

Actually, bad things don't happen to good people -- they only happen to people as a punishment. If something bad happens to you, it means you've actually done something wrong, even if you didn't realise.
Still, I'm sure you know what you've done....
Bad girl!

According to the way we Buddhists see it... accrued bad karma from past lives and perception.
At the very least, if you meet what you perceive as "bad things" happening to you with understanding that all things arise due to causes and conditions, and can meet it with patience, or at least try to learn from most of it, you'll experience less rough spots...
Hope this helps a little. In case you care, the link to a good overview on Buddhism and "karma": buddhanet.net.

at present we are in the era of kaliyuga! this is the darkest of era's in the cycle of life. due to this we are affected by Maya ( anything which obstructs us from praying to god) more so then centuries before. as you are affected by it more so, often bad things occur, all due to our attachment to the world. in addition to this, our karma's ( all good and bad deeds one attains due to his/her actions) determine the outcome of our lives. if you have done something bad in your previous lives, you will have to repent/pay for them eventually, be it this life or the next until you become liberated. and the only way you can attain moksha (liberated) is through atma-realisation and through the association of a true sadhu/guru. who today is Pramukh Swami Maharaj. All things that happen, good or bad are the will of god, a test of our faith, many a times we have instincts ( such as lust, anger, greed, ego, etc...) which needs to be eradicated to attain moksha, therefore if one sees everything god does as divine, there would not be a question of good or bad, as all of gods actions are divine and one would always be happy no matter what life brings.

"Bad" things happen to everyone. No matter how "good" they are.
There are no "innocent" people. That's just something they say.
Please don't go to church. Read a science book instead. You'll be better off.
The only things that motivate people enough to cause war are money and religion...it's usually the latter.
