If you just had your bypass, you will need to get most of your protein from those liquid shakes. You can buy the product at Walmart for about $14.00 and mix it and drink it or freeze it like icecream. There are about 23 grams in one serving. I have doubled my scoops and get twice as much protein. Also, all of the things everyone mentioned. However, you won't be able to eat a lot of that. I'd stay away from beef and port for the moment as it might make you sick. And, LENTILS...easy and cheap to fix and they have almost as much protein as soybeans. AND, they are easy on your pouch and have lots of fiber! I know it's a hard decision to have that surgery (I had it too) but you will be so happy that you did in a few months. Please be careful and do everything the doctors told you to do. If you need any help or encouragement, you can email me at

Get some protein shakes. Try the Advant Edge the french vanilla it's really good. My grandma just had that surgery a month ago and that's what her doctor told her to drink. You can find it in stores where they sell slim fast and all the other diet stuff. I hope this helps you some. Good luck.
