I plan to go to grad school part time next year. I'm 30 (no hubby or kids) I work full time and I make about $50k. What are the chances that I would qualify for grant money?

The answer is none because government grant money does not exist at the graduate school level. Graduate students use a combination of student loans and scholarships. However, there are scholarships out there for graduate school at the individual universities and private scholarship level. I will list some free sources to locate the private scholarship funds.

First, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes a college major's website will list scholarships, too.

Second, the public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.

Finally, I recommend joining several free membership scholarship search websites, but the best I have located is Scholarship Experts since they have a very thorough and lengthy survey to complete compared to Fastweb. There are scholarships for a variety of things including ethnicity, clubs, hobbies, and even wearing duct tape to the high school prom. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on information entered onto a form on the website.

Good luck!

it depends in what state you live. For instance, in va, private colleges offer a tag grant to undergrad to professional students. Of course, income is the determining factor on eligibility and if funds available. In addition, you would have to apply for prior to entering in grad school or professional school. Therefore, check the department of education within your state.

At 50K? Slim to none. The only way you'd qualify is if you quit your job.
